What to do if you have repeated fever caused by viral infection

In this era of medical development, with the improvement of people's living standards, various foods and commodities have become rich and colorful. Therefore, some bacteria and viruses take advantage of the opportunity to sneak in, leaving us unable to dodge and only able to endure the pain. Some viruses are very easy to cause infection, leading to symptoms of some diseases such as fever. If not prevented in time, it will cause other diseases. So what should we do if we have recurring fever caused by viral infection?

Fever is common in children, and there are many causes of fever, such as upper respiratory tract infection, various acute infectious diseases, etc. Moreover, the baby's body temperature is easily affected by external factors, so parents should not panic if their children have a fever. First of all, we should distinguish whether it is physiological or pathological. For physiological fever, such as children wearing too many clothes or after activities, no treatment is required; for pathological fever, you may wish to use the following methods to reduce fever.

1. Warm water bath: use warm water of 32 to 36 degrees Celsius for sponge bath or immersion bath. A sponge bath is to scrub or massage the child's entire skin with warm water; when taking a bath, the child's entire body should be immersed in the water. A warm water bath can stimulate children's skin, dilate capillaries, accelerate blood flow, increase heat dissipation, and clean or dilate the openings of sweat glands to facilitate sweating, thereby cooling down quickly and effectively. Each warm water bath should last for 5 to 10 minutes.

2. Alcohol bath: Wipe with 25% to 35% alcohol. Parents can dip a handkerchief into the prepared alcohol solution, starting from one side of the child's neck, wiping from top to bottom along the outside of the arm to the arm, and then wiping from the armpit to the palm. The treatment method for the other side is the same. For the lower limbs, you can rub from the outside of the child's thigh to the instep, and then from the groin to the sole of the foot. Rub your armpits, groin, soles of feet, and palms with force, repeating back and forth several times. Alcohol can dilate the capillaries on the skin surface, increase heat dissipation, and quickly reduce the temperature. However, you must be gentle when operating on babies to prevent skin damage.

3. Ice pack cooling method: Parents can use a household refrigerator to make ice cubes, remove the edges and corners, put them in a plastic bag, add an appropriate amount of water, wrap them with a towel, and place them on the child's forehead, both sides of the neck, armpits, groin, etc. This method is effective in cooling down the body because these areas have large blood vessels and can achieve the cooling effect more quickly. However, it should be noted that if the skin where the ice cubes are placed becomes visibly red, you should stop using it and place the ice cubes in another area.

4. Drug-induced fever: Generally, it should be used with caution under the guidance of a doctor.

5. Massage to cool down: This method is simple and can cool down quickly. It should be emphasized that the above measures are generally only adopted when the body temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees Celsius, and at least when it reaches 38 degrees Celsius, otherwise it will be harmful to the child. When taking the above cooling measures, keep the indoor ventilation and air fresh. Don't cover children with too thick quilts. In addition, methods 1 to 3 above are generally only symptomatic treatments and not a cure for the disease. Parents should go to the hospital to find out the real cause of their child's fever during or after the treatment process.

1. Provide sufficient nutrition: Children are in a continuous growth and development stage, and their requirements for nutrients are relatively large. If they are malnourished, their resistance will be relatively poor, so it is necessary to ensure balanced nutrition.

2. Give your baby more water; because drinking more water can promote your baby's metabolism and improve resistance.

3. Let your baby bask in the sun more often: reduce your baby’s calcium deficiency.

4. Exercise outdoors more often, breathe more fresh air, and avoid crowded places.

5. Ensure adequate sleep.

6. You can give your baby some colostrum and prebiotics.

After reading the above introduction on what to do if you have recurring fever caused by viral infection, I think everyone should have understood it. The virus can infect through multiple channels and present with various symptoms. We need to take effective prevention and treatment methods in a timely manner to prescribe the right medicine and reduce the patient's disease burden as soon as possible to avoid difficult-to-cure results.
