What to do if your fingers feel hot like burning

A common problem we often encounter in winter is that we feel our hands are hot and swollen from time to time, especially when our hands are frozen in the cold wind and suddenly we go into a warm room, our fingers begin to swell and our palms begin to heat up, to an uncomfortable level. In this case, we can consider that it is caused by the sudden warming of hands due to being too cold, and we cannot rule out the possibility that it is related to these aspects.

sign

Warm palms can be a sign of several illnesses:

Tuberculosis: It is the most common cause of hot palms, especially in young people, accompanied by night sweats, fatigue, cough, mental depression, etc. A chest X-ray or laboratory test can usually reveal the presence of lesions.

Chronic pyelonephritis: Most young and middle-aged women in the chronic active stage generally have persistent or intermittent hot palms, or accompanied by systemic fever. Carefully recall the symptoms you had at that time or in the past, such as low back pain, fatigue, frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating, and urine tests revealed abnormalities.

Liver disease: viral hepatitis (hepatitis B, etc.), cirrhosis, chronic biliary tract infection, etc. may all cause hot palms. These diseases are generally accompanied by loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue, abdominal distension, dull pain in the liver area, insomnia, etc. Liver function or hepatitis immunology tests can usually detect the disease.

Connective tissue diseases: Although rheumatic fever, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. can cause hot palms, the incidence is not high and is generally accompanied by obvious systemic fever symptoms.

Historical Records

Volume 1 of "Discussion on Differentiating Internal and External Injuries": "Internal injuries and overwork and improper diet will cause the palms of the patient to be hot, but the backs of the hands will not be hot. External injuries caused by wind and cold will cause the backs of the hands to be hot, but the palms will not be hot. This distinction is very clear." See the sections on heat in the palms and fever in the five hearts.
