How to treat recurrent eczema in adults

How to treat recurrent eczema in adults

Eczema is a very common skin disease. There are many causes of eczema, the most common of which is excessive moisture in the body, or irregular eating habits and lifestyle. The recurrence of eczema is most likely due to the lack of symptomatic treatment or blind treatment without seeking medical treatment. Once such a problem occurs, it is necessary to find out the specific cause and treat it according to reasonable treatment methods.

1. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that wind evil, dampness evil, heat evil, blood deficiency, and insect infestation are the main causes of the disease. The treatment principles are to dispel wind and dampness, clear away heat and detoxify, nourish blood and moisten dryness, and promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, so as to achieve the effect of expelling evil, strengthening the body, and relieving itching.

2. Prescription therapy

1. 15 grams each of Indigo, Talcum Powder, and Cypress, and 9 grams of Borneol. Grind them into fine powder, mix with sesame oil to form a paste, apply to the affected area 3 times a day. It is effective in treating acute eczema.

2. Grind 10 grams of alum, 30 grams of calamine, 6 grams of borneol and 15 grams of Sophora flavescens into fine powder and apply it to the affected area twice a day. It is effective in treating scrotal eczema.

3. Grind 100 grams of Evodia rutaecarpa into fine powder, add Fu Qingsong ointment to make a paste, and apply it to the eczema area 3 times a day. Generally, the itching will stop after one application, and it can be cured in 6-15 days.

3. External Therapy

In case of acute eczema, erythema, papules, papulovesicles and blisters are seen in the early stage, but no erosion and exudation are seen. You can apply Sophora flavescens peel Shuangkang, Ermiao powder, Liuyi powder etc. externally, or use Sanhuang lotion or calamine lotion externally.

4. Systemic Therapy in Western Medicine

1. Nonspecific desensitization treatment: Acute or subacute eczema can be treated with 10% calcium gluconate 10ml or 10% sodium thiosulfate 10ml intravenous injection once a day; or 0.25% procaine 20ml plus vitamin C 1-2g intravenous injection once a day.

2. Glucocorticoids: their use is generally not recommended. For patients with significant and widespread inflammation in the acute phase, short-term use may be considered, such as prednisone 20-40 mg/d. After the effect is seen, the dosage may be reduced or even discontinued as appropriate.

5. Notes

1. Try to find the cause of the disease, isolate the allergen, and avoid further stimulation. Remove lesions and treat systemic chronic diseases such as indigestion, intestinal parasitic diseases, diabetes, mental and neurological abnormalities, varicose veins in the lower legs, etc.

2. Pay attention to skin hygiene, do not use hot water or soap to clean skin lesions, and do not use irritating antipruritic drugs indiscriminately.

3. Avoid alcohol, spicy and irritating foods, fish, shrimp and other foods that are easy to cause allergies and difficult to digest, and pay attention to the relationship between diet and disease.

4. Combine work and rest to avoid excessive fatigue and mental stress.
