What can a head MRI check for?

Among modern medical technologies, examination technology is developing the fastest and can achieve good results in examining various diseases. In particular, some diseases that cannot be identified by traditional diagnostic methods can be accurately diagnosed using advanced scientific examination methods. For example, MRI technology is an advanced diagnostic method. Let’s take a look at what problems can be checked by head MRI.

Brain MRI examination is mainly used to check whether there is cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, or intracranial space-occupying lesions. If the child drinks domestic drugs, sedatives need to be used appropriately.

Brain MRI can usually provide more information than brain CT and is a clearer imaging test. Some abnormalities cannot be seen on CT but can be clearly shown on MRI, for example, focal cortical dysplasia. The high cost and low popularity of magnetic resonance imaging are the disadvantages of magnetic resonance imaging.

Neck MRI is good at showing tumor lesions in the eyes, ears, nose, and throat. For example, MRI can show the invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma on the skull base and cranial nerves more clearly and accurately than CT. MRI can also be used to image blood vessels in the neck, showing abnormalities in the blood vessels. For neck masses, MRI can also show their extent and characteristics to help with qualitative diagnosis.

effect:

Compared with CT, brain MRI has the unique advantages of no radiation damage, no bone artifacts, multi-faceted and multi-parameter imaging, high soft tissue resolution, and the ability to display vascular structures without the use of contrast agents. It is applicable to almost all diseases of all systems in the body, such as tumors, inflammation, trauma, degenerative lesions and various congenital diseases. It is better than CT in showing brain, spine and spinal cord diseases. It can display the structure of blood vessels without the use of vascular contrast agents, so it is unique in distinguishing between blood vessels, tumors, lymph nodes and vascular structures. It also has a soft tissue resolution capability several times higher than CT, and can sensitively detect changes in water content in tissue components, thus often detecting lesions more effectively and earlier than CT. MRI can clearly and comprehensively display the heart chambers, myocardium, pericardium and other small structures within the heart. It is a reliable method for diagnosing various heart diseases and testing cardiac function.
