The difference between mineral salt and sea salt

Seawater contains various salts, of which about 90% is sodium chloride, or table salt. It also contains magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, magnesium carbonate, and other salts containing various elements such as potassium, iodine, sodium, and bromine.

Where does so much salt in seawater come from? Scientists compared seawater with river water, studied soil and gravel after rain, and learned that the salt in seawater is brought by rivers on land through flowing water. When rain falls on the ground, it gathers in low places to form small rivers and flows into rivers. Some water penetrates into the ground through various strata, then emerges in other areas and finally flows into the sea. During the flow of water, it passes through various soils and rock formations, causing them to decompose and produce various salt substances, which are carried into the sea with water. As seawater evaporates continuously, the concentration of salt becomes higher and higher. Since the formation of the ocean took hundreds of thousands of years, it is not surprising that seawater contains so much salt.
