In fact, many people are very afraid of AIDS because AIDS is a serious infectious disease with a very high mortality rate. If it is transmitted through sexual contact, it is very likely to lead to the invasion of the AIDS virus. There is currently no cure for it, but there are better treatments and it can be prevented. So what are the ways to prevent AIDS? Correct use of condoms can not only prevent pregnancy, but also reduce the risk of contracting AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. In this project funded by the Ford Foundation, they found that in 2006, condom use showed that among the 4,539 people who had sex and answered questions about condoms, only 6.1% used condoms when having sex with anyone, while 51.3% did not use condoms with anyone. Statistics show that the shorter the duration of sexual relations outside of marriage, the more people will always use and frequently use condoms, because people are clearly aware that the more temporary and commercialized the sexual relations are, the greater the risk of spreading sexually transmitted diseases or AIDS. For example, in the vast majority of sexual transactions, the proportion of people who always use condoms and those who frequently use condoms has reached 80%. On the other hand, since AIDS has not yet spread to the general population in China, when people have sex with sexual partners other than their spouses (not in a commercial relationship), the number of people who always or frequently use condoms is not that high, less than 40%; and between spouses, it is only 20%. This "triple jump" of 20%, 40%, and 80% shows that China's AIDS prevention publicity and education have played their due role; it also shows that using condoms to prevent AIDS is not only easy to do, but has also become a daily lifestyle for the Chinese people in this regard. To a certain extent, wearing condoms during sexual intercourse can prevent the occurrence of AIDS, but if condoms are used improperly or the quality of condoms is not up to standard, it may lead to the invasion of the HIV virus. Only by practicing sexual self-discipline can we effectively prevent the spread of AIDS. How to wear a condom to prevent the spread of AIDS Choose the right material The HIV/hepatitis prevention and control information compiled by the Yale University School of Medicine in the United States points out that only condoms made of latex can effectively prevent the transmission of the HIV virus. Condoms made of animal skin (such as sheepskin) have larger holes. Although sperm cannot pass through these holes (thus preventing pregnancy), HIV can pass through them. Therefore, they cannot prevent the transmission of HIV. In addition, even if condoms are made of latex, if they contain nonoxynol-9 (NP-9), they cannot effectively prevent the transmission of HIV. Therefore, when buying condoms, you should read the instructions on the package carefully to see whether it contains this substance. Pay attention to the shelf life During sexual intercourse, only one person should wear a condom. If both parties wear condoms, both condoms will be damaged due to friction. Protection requires all-round Because HIV can be present in the blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk of infected people, if one party is infected or may be infected with HIV, then, not only should condoms be worn during sexual intercourse, but any behavior that contacts the infected person's genitals (such as anal sex and oral sex) also requires protection: 1. Wear a latex condom. 2. Wear latex gloves when touching the genitals and anus. 3. Wear a latex dental mask when touching the vagina or anus (you can cut a latex condom and use it as a dental mask). 4. Contact with breast milk of an infected person. 5. The use of lubricating oil also has its own requirements. When using latex condoms, only water-based lubricants should be used, as oil-based lubricants will damage latex condoms. Female condoms can be used with either water-based or oil-based lubricants. 6. If the man is infected, he should take out the condom as soon as possible after ejaculation, and be careful not to let the semen escape. Then tie or roll up the condom and throw it in a safe place. In addition, the editor reminds everyone that when purchasing condoms, you must check whether the condoms are expired and whether the product packaging is damaged. When opening the outer packaging, be careful not to tear the condom. And condoms cannot be reused. If these details are ignored, the preventive effectiveness of condoms cannot be guaranteed. |
