Why does liquor have no shelf life

Why does liquor have no shelf life

Many people are confused about the fact that liquor has no shelf life, and they think that it is impossible to correctly judge whether the liquor has gone bad. In fact, the shelf life of liquor is relatively long. It only needs to be stored at room temperature and does not need to be put in the refrigerator. Drinking liquor in moderation can be very helpful to your body. It can promote blood circulation, relax muscles and activate blood circulation, and avoid blood stasis.

1. Sensory. The quality of liquor is mainly determined by physical, chemical analysis and sensory inspection. To accurately reflect the color, aroma and taste of the liquor, it must rely on human sensory identification. The sensory quality of liquor includes four parts: color, aroma, taste and style. The body of wine should be judged through the images of the eyes, nose and tongue.

2. Alcohol content. At 20°C, the number of milliliters of alcohol contained in 100mL of wine sample or the number of grams of alcohol contained in 100g of wine sample.

3. Solid matter. The solid content of liquor refers to the residue after ethanol, water and other volatile components are evaporated and removed at 100-105°C.

4. Methanol. National standards stipulate that the methanol content in liquor made from cereals shall not exceed 0.6g/L, and the methanol content in liquor produced from other raw materials shall not exceed 2.0g/L. (Methanol index is calculated based on 100% alcohol content)

5. Lead. According to the national standard, the lead content of 60%vol distilled liquor shall not exceed 1mg/L (measured in Pb). Excessive lead content can cause poisoning.

6. Manganese. Hygiene standards require that the manganese content in wine should not exceed 2 mg/l (measured in Mn). Manganese is an essential trace element for normal human metabolism, but excessive manganese entering the body can cause poisoning

Baijiu is different from rice wine, beer and fruit wine. Apart from containing very small amounts of sodium, copper and zinc, it contains almost no vitamins and calcium, phosphorus, iron, etc. It only contains water and ethanol (alcohol). Traditionally, it is believed that liquor can promote blood circulation, enhance the efficacy of medicine, increase appetite, eliminate fatigue, cultivate sentiment, make people feel light-hearted, and keep out the cold and refresh the mind. Drinking a small amount of low-alcohol liquor can dilate small blood vessels, reduce the sugar content in the blood, promote blood circulation, delay the deposition of lipids such as cholesterol in the blood vessel walls, and is beneficial to the circulatory system and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems.

Check the bottle cap

At present, most of the bottle caps of famous Chinese liquors use aluminum metal anti-theft caps, which are characterized by smooth caps, uniform shapes, easy opening, neat and clear patterns and texts on the caps, and tight fit. If it is a counterfeit product, it will often drip when turned upside down, the lid will be difficult to twist off, and the patterns and text will be blurred.

Observation quality

If it is packaged in a colorless transparent glass bottle, hold the bottle in your hand, slowly turn it upside down, and observe the bottom of the bottle against the light. If there is sinking substance or a cloudy phenomenon, it means that there are more impurities in the wine. If the wine does not lose its gloss, is not turbid, and has no suspended matter, it means that the quality of the wine is relatively good. From the color point of view, except for the sauce-flavored liquor, most liquors should be colorless and transparent.

Smell and taste

Pour the wine into a colorless, transparent glass and observe it against natural light. The wine should be clear and transparent, without suspended matter and sediment. Then smell its aroma, put your nose close to the rim of the glass to distinguish the intensity and characteristics of the aroma. Finally, taste its flavor. Drink a small amount of wine and spread it on the tongue to distinguish the thickness, softness, mellowness, roughness of the taste and whether the sour, sweet, spicy and spicy flavors are coordinated. Low-grade and inferior liquor is generally made from poor quality or moldy grains, with rough craftsmanship, and it will choke your throat and make you drunk.
