What to do if you can't pronounce the words clearly when singing

In our lives, many people like to sing, and some people even go to KTV to sing. However, for some people who are born with tongue defects, their pronunciation of Mandarin is not very standard, which will cause them to sing unclearly. The songs sung by people who can't pronounce clearly sound even worse, and sometimes they are easily laughed at. So what should we do if we can't pronounce clearly when singing?

Pronunciation in singing refers to the initial consonant of a word, that is, the initial consonant of the word is pronounced accurately according to a certain pronunciation position and method. Pronunciation refers to the middle and end of a word (the final vowel). That is, the final vowel of the middle part of the word is prolonged and pronounced accurately according to different mouth shapes, and the final vowel is pronounced clearly. The general rules for articulation in singing are:

1) The beginning of a word should be sung short, light and accurate

The pronunciation of Chinese characters mostly starts with consonants. The radical refers to the beginning part of the pronunciation, which is what we often call the "five sounds": lips, tongue, teeth, teeth, and throat.

Labial sounds: b, p, m, f

Tongue: d, t, n, l

Dental sounds: j, q, x

Dental: z, c, s, zh, ch, sh, r

Guttural: g, k, h

When pronouncing these five categories, the force applied must be clearly determined and the pronunciation should not be vague. The force applied to labial consonants is on the lips, and the pronunciation of the upper and lower lips should be forceful and clear. The force for tongue sounds is placed on the tip of the tongue, the force for dental sounds is placed on the teeth, the force for dental sounds is placed between the upper and lower teeth, and the force for glottal sounds is placed in the throat. We should make full use of the technique of "biting" words to enhance the appeal of the song.

2) Extend the belly of the word

The belly of a word (the final vowel) is the extended part of the word in singing pronunciation. It takes up a longer duration and has the loudest volume when singing. It is the main part of the word and has the closest relationship with the pronunciation. It needs to be extended and can be extended. It plays a key role in the quality of singing. The extended part is divided into four categories according to the mouth shape requirements of different finals in the belly of the word, namely "Qi, Kai, Cuo, He", which we call "Four Calls".

Open mouth: a, o, e require the mouth to be open when pronouncing them.

Even-teeth pronunciation: ī or the finals beginning with ī. When pronouncing them, the mouth is flat, the breath flows out through the gap between the upper and lower teeth, and the force is applied on the teeth.

Pursed lips: When pronouncing ü or the finals beginning with ü, the upper and lower lips are slightly moved forward, and the force is applied to the lips.

Close-mouth pronunciation: u can be the beginning final, and the upper and lower lips are closed to form a circle when pronouncing it.

The "four calls" are used to lengthen the middle part of a word. The mouth shape must not change with the changes in the melody and should always remain unchanged. Whether the voice in singing is round and coherent mainly depends on the accuracy, coherence and fluency of pronunciation.
