What to do if your skin becomes itchy after sun exposure

What to do if your skin becomes itchy after sun exposure

People who work or play in the hottest days must remember to protect themselves from the sun. There are many ways to protect themselves from the sun, such as sunscreen, sun-protective clothing, and parasols. In short, it is important to do a good job of sun protection, especially to avoid exposure to the sun. But some people still get exposed to the sun when they have no choice, and find that their skin becomes itchy after being exposed to the sun. So what should you do if your skin becomes itchy after being exposed to the sun?

This disease is a delayed sensitive reaction of the skin to sunlight (mainly medium-wave ultraviolet rays). The lesions are polymorphic and recur in exposed areas. It falls within the scope of "sun sores" in traditional Chinese medicine.

1. The onset is obviously seasonal, usually occurring and aggravating in spring and summer, and easing or disappearing in autumn and winter. Symptoms are clearly related to sun exposure and fluctuate, often occurring in young and middle-aged people.

2. Lesions are seen on exposed areas such as the face, neck, back of hands, and forearms, especially on the zygomatic, cheek, and forehead. Areas covered by the scalp and collar are not involved. The front of the neck often presents "open" lesions. The lesions are often symmetrically distributed, often in small flakes without fusion.

3. The skin lesions are polymorphic, with papule-vesicular, eczematous and prurigo types being the most common, followed by erythema and edema.

treat:

1. Western medicine treatment

(1) Avoid strong sunlight and use sunscreens such as 5% titanium dioxide cream or 5% para-aminobenzoic acid cream, zinc oxide ointment, etc.

(2) Take 0.25 g of chloroquine orally, twice a day, and change to once a night after 2 weeks. Antihistamines can be taken orally at the same time.

(3) Nicotinamide 50-100 mg, orally 3 times a day. Vitamin B drugs can also be taken together.

(4) Local treatment can be based on the skin lesions and symptoms. Generally, soothing and antipruritic agents and corticosteroid preparations are used, and tar preparations should be avoided.

2. Treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine: The disease is mostly diagnosed as damp-heat and blood toxicity according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Treatment method: Cool blood, detoxify, clear heat and remove dampness. Prescription: 15 grams of gentian, 15 grams of Imperata root, 15 grams of Lithospermum erythrorhizon, 10 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 15 grams of Isatis indigotica, 10 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, 30 grams of Gypsum (pre-boiled), 10 grams of Plantain, and 30 grams of Liuyi Powder (boiled in a wrapped container). Decoction in water, 1 dose per day. The residue can be boiled into a decoction and used to wash the affected area. In addition, skin diseases are best diagnosed through on-site observation, so it is recommended that you go to the hospital and let the dermatologist make a clear diagnosis and then prescribe medication.
