Why is the room humid when the air conditioner is on?

Why is the room humid when the air conditioner is on?

Air conditioners are common household appliances in our daily life. Whether it is summer or winter, air conditioners are very important to us, especially in summer. Without air conditioners, the heat will cause many people to suffer from heatstroke. Under normal circumstances, the home will not be humid when the air conditioner is turned on, but it will become very dry. However, some people think that if the home is humid, the humidity can be relieved by turning on the air conditioner. In fact, this is an incorrect approach.

Is it useful to turn on the air conditioner when the room is damp?

The room is humid and air conditioning is helpful.

Principle: When the air conditioner is working in dehumidification mode, the fan in the machine runs at a low speed all the time, and the compressor starts and stops. The refrigeration system performs intermittent refrigeration cycles. Most of the cold air generated is used to balance the latent heat of the indoor air, that is, to turn water vapor into condensed water; a small part of the cold air is used to balance the sensible heat, that is, to lower the indoor temperature. When the compressor stops, the room temperature will slowly rise. When it rises to about one degree higher than the set temperature, the compressor will automatically start up. This continuous cycle will keep the room temperature close to the set value and remove moisture from the air.

What mode should the air conditioner be set in when the room is humid?

To achieve the effect of dehumidifying the room, the air conditioner needs to turn on the "dehumidification mode" in the remote control, and press the button to turn on the dehumidification function (usually represented by a water drop graphic) to extract moisture from the room.

If you want to cool the room while dehumidifying, you can achieve the effect by turning on the "cooling" mode. In fact, both the "cooling" and "dehumidification" modes of the air conditioner can reduce the water vapor content in the air in the room, but the dehumidification speed is different.

How much is the appropriate temperature for air conditioning dehumidification

Automatic setting of air conditioning dehumidification temperature

When the air conditioner is dehumidifying, if the temperature is set too high, the dehumidification effect will not be very obvious, and if the temperature is too low, it will affect the room temperature. Nowadays, when most air conditioners are dehumidifying, the temperature is automatically set by the manufacturer. Generally, the dehumidification temperature set by the manufacturer is 2 degrees lower than the room temperature. In order to avoid lowering the indoor temperature excessively during dehumidification, this set value is generally locked. At this time, we don’t need to set the temperature, just turn on the air conditioner dehumidification function.

Manual setting of air conditioning dehumidification temperature

For air conditioners that require you to set the dehumidification temperature yourself, it is generally best to set the temperature 4 degrees lower than the room temperature. For example, if your cooling temperature is set at 27 degrees, then the dehumidification temperature is most suitable at 23 degrees.

Other ways to deal with humidity in your home

Open windows frequently for ventilation

Opening windows for ventilation is the simplest way to solve the problem of humidity in the room. This method can allow the moisture in the room to evaporate. However, when opening doors and windows, you should also pay attention to the fact that the weather outside must be dry and the humidity must be lower than that indoors. A sunny afternoon is the best time to open windows for ventilation. In daily life, if the weather is good, you should open windows more often to ventilate the room to reduce the water vapor content in the room.

Use an air purifier

Using an air purifier in a humid room can have a very good effect. On the one hand, it can purify the air and prevent bacteria pollution. On the other hand, it can also improve the air quality in the home and create a good environment.

Use desiccant and activated carbon for dehumidification

If there is a long period of rainy weather, the humid environment in the room will make people very uncomfortable. At this time, you can use desiccant or activated carbon to dehumidify, which can achieve very good results.

Dehumidification using lime and bamboo charcoal

Put an appropriate amount of lime in a small cloth bag, tie it up and place it in every corner of the room. Lime has the effect of absorbing moisture, reducing humidity, and also has a good disinfection effect. Bamboo charcoal also has a good dehumidification effect and can be reused, but the effect will decrease if it is used too much.
