What to do if the kettle boils dry and turns black

What to do if the kettle boils dry and turns black

Many people have experienced the situation where the kettle becomes dry or black when they use it to boil water at home. Especially some elderly people are more likely to encounter this kind of thing. Because people put the kettle on the stove and then went to do other things, they forgot that the kettle was still on the fire. When they remembered it, the water in the kettle had completely boiled dry and the kettle was burnt black. Some people use steel wool to wipe it, but the effect is not very good.

1. How to clean a kettle that has burned dry and turned black

1. If it is carbon black after burnt dry, you can use a brush to brush it off. If there is still some scale, you can add a little vinegar in the kettle and wash it after a while to remove it.

2. You can use cleaning products containing abrasives such as toothpaste or laundry detergent to scrub, which will have a good effect.

It is best not to boil water before cleaning the kettle. The black color is the burnt metal residue, which contains high levels of scattered heavy metals and is harmful to the human body.

2. How to clean the kettle scale

1. Lemon method to remove scale

Cut a lemon into pieces, put it in the kettle, boil it and soak it for a while, and the scale can be easily removed. Supermarkets also sell special descaling cleaners, the main ingredient of which is citric acid, and has the same effect as lemon.

2. Boil sweet potatoes to remove scale

Put more than half of the sweet potatoes in a new kettle, fill it with water, and cook the sweet potatoes. Next time you boil water, there will be no scale accumulation. But be careful not to scrub the inner wall of the kettle after boiling sweet potatoes, otherwise the descaling effect will be lost. For old kettles that are full of scale, after boiling them once or twice using the above method, not only will the original scale gradually fall off, but it will also prevent scale from accumulating again.

3. Baking soda to remove scale

When boiling water in an aluminum kettle with scale, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda, boil it for a few minutes and the scale will be removed.

4. Boil eggs to remove scale

The scale on the kettle that is used for boiling water becomes hard and difficult to remove after being used for a long time. If you use it to boil eggs twice, you will get the desired effect.

5. Use potato peels to remove scale

After using an aluminum kettle or pot for a period of time, a thin layer of scale will form. Put the potato peels in it, add appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil, and cook for about 10 minutes before removing them.

6. Thermal expansion and contraction to remove scale

Place the empty kettle on the stove to dry out the moisture in the scale. When cracks appear on the bottom of the kettle or a "bang" sound is heard from the bottom of the kettle, remove the kettle and quickly pour in cold water. Or wrap the handle and spout with a rag, hold it with both hands, and quickly place the dried kettle in cold water (do not let water pour into the kettle). Repeat 2 to 3 times and the scale on the bottom of the pot will fall off due to thermal expansion and contraction.

7. Descaling with vinegar

If there is scale in the kettle, put some vinegar into the water and boil it for one or two hours, and the scale will be removed. If the main component of scale is calcium sulfate, you can pour pure alkaline solution into the kettle and boil it to remove the scale.

8. Masks prevent scale accumulation

Put a clean mask in the kettle. When the water is boiling, the scale will be absorbed by the mask. Magnetization descaling: Put a magnet in the kettle. Not only will it prevent scale accumulation, but the boiled water will be magnetized, which can also prevent and treat constipation and pharyngitis.
