Can hysteria heal itself?

Can hysteria heal itself?

In real life, hysteria is a very common disease of the human mental system. During a hysterical attack, people are prone to briefly lose consciousness and do things that they usually think or mutter. Frequent attacks of hysteria require timely treatment. Generally, hysteria is a relatively short-term illness, but it is difficult to eradicate. You need to control it to heal yourself, or you can seek medical treatment.

Can hysteria heal on its own?

Hysteria is not a very serious mental illness, but it has a relatively high recurrence rate and is difficult to eradicate. What we need to do is to avoid emergency factors.

Treatment of hysteria:

Hysteria can be divided into conversion and dissociative hysteria. Conversion refers to the loss or change of some aspect of physical function. This physical dysfunction is actually a manifestation of psychological contradictions or needs. Such as: convulsions, limb tremors, tics, paralysis, inability to stand, inability to walk, aphonia, blindness, deafness, foreign body sensation in the throat, etc.

Hysterical dissociative disorder. It can manifest as a hysterical stupor: a narrow range of consciousness and mental activity limited to experiences related to the onset of the disease. Their words, actions, inner experiences, etc. all reflect content related to mental trauma, and they can usually recover within a dozen minutes. Emotional outbursts: crying, laughing, pulling hair, beating chest, rolling on the ground, often accompanied by childish, contrived, and dramatic behavior. The symptoms are often affected by the words and attitudes of people around, and can usually be relieved on their own. Hysteria often occurs in people aged 16-35 years old, and is more common in women. In recent years, it has also become common in children. The treatment of hysteria should be based on psychological therapy, supplemented by drug therapy.

1. Doctors should establish a good relationship with patients, explain the nature of the disease and precautions to them, so that patients have firm confidence and perseverance in the recovery of the disease. Doctors should also do a good job of working with patients' families, strive for their cooperation and help, and avoid the influence of negative suggestions on patients.

2. Suggestive treatment. Based on the patient's strong suggestibility, a variety of suggestive methods are used to eliminate the symptoms. For example, make full use of "verbal suggestion" to make patients have strong confidence and urgency in public treatment. Drug therapy can be used based on verbal suggestion.

3. Physical therapy. Electroacupuncture, electrical stimulation and other therapies can be used to treat hysterical paralysis, convulsions, hiccups, etc., all of which have rapid effects and no toxic side effects.

4. Before a hysterical attack, people often have a hysterical personality. Therefore, mental health education should be carried out among people who often live together. For example, in elementary schools, middle schools, rural areas and other environments, when the first hysterical attack occurs, when people around witness the onset of the disease, they will make a fuss about it due to their lack of understanding of the disease, and become nervous and fearful.

Under the influence of mutual psychological suggestion and self-suggestion, similar attacks will occur one after another. Even within a short period of time, similar hysterical attacks may occur among many people around. This is a "collective outbreak of hysteria" and we should take "isolation" measures in time, while giving symptomatic treatment and suggestive treatment.
