What should I do if I am nearsighted and want to join the army

Myopia is very common in life. The academic pressure is heavy for teenagers, so many students wear glasses for myopia. According to relevant national regulations, myopia has a relatively large impact on joining the army. If you want to serve in the army, you will be subject to obvious restrictions. So what should myopic people do if they want to serve in the army? After myopia repair surgery, your vision can be restored to normal levels and you can join the army.

What should I do if I am nearsighted and want to join the army?

According to regulations, vision has a great impact on joining the army, and people with myopia will be restricted if they serve in the army. At the same time, experts remind that even if myopic patients choose to undergo excimer laser surgery before joining the army, they must reserve sufficient time for the operation and postoperative care. After all, the intensity of physical training is very high when they first enter the barracks. If you join the military training shortly after surgery, it may affect the recovery of vision in the eye after surgery.

Vision requirements for military personnel

According to relevant policy regulations, the vision requirements for military personnel are relatively strict. The vision requirements for the military service physical examination are: the naked eye vision of each eye is less than 4.5 (0.3), the corrected vision is less than 4.9 (0.8), and the refractive power is above ±6.00DS equivalent spherical lens, which is unqualified. The naked eye distance vision of each eye is above 4.6 (0.4), the corrected vision is above 4.9 (0.8), the refractive power is below ±6.00DS equivalent spherical lens, and the candidates are qualified in command, surface ship, submarine, armor, surveying and mapping, and radar.

Among them, those who have undergone excimer laser surgery for more than half a year and have no complications, except for submarine and airborne majors, are qualified. The junior high school education requires the right eye to be 4.9 and the left eye to be 4.8. The high school education requires the right eye to be 4.7 and the left eye not less than 4.5. The college education requires the right eye to be 4.6 and the left eye to be 4.5 to be qualified. In addition, there are also regulations on color vision disorders, eye diseases, strabismus and amblyopia.

If the conscripts' vision does not meet the standard, they should undergo myopia surgery as early as possible.

Many myopia patients will go to the hospital for check-up only when the physical examination is approaching. In clinical practice, not everyone is suitable for myopia surgery, and not everyone can arrange surgery the next day after examination. Therefore, young people who are preparing to join the army must make plans for myopia surgery in advance, give their eyes more time to prepare, and ensure the safety of the operation.

Warm reminder: In order to meet the needs of young conscripts to remove their glasses, Chengdu Pure Eye Hospital has specially opened a "Military and Police Physical Examination Green Channel". Young conscripts with myopia who register for surgery through the green channel can enjoy three major privileges: priority appointments with senior experts; enjoy a dedicated channel for preoperative examinations to reduce waiting time; and enjoy a dedicated channel for appointments and registrations.
