Mole on cheek near ear

Mole on cheek near ear

Some moles appear near the ears and cheeks. This is because there are melanocytes in the skin, or the melanin particles caused by pigment cells increase abnormally. Long-term accumulation in various places will slowly lead to the appearance of moles. Some moles are smooth, while others have pigmentation problems. The removal method is very simple. Some can be treated with laser, while others can recover faster with other methods.

What to do if you have a mole:

The course of moles is generally stable. Relatively speaking, spontaneous regression, significant enlargement and malignant transformation are rare. The number of moles on each person's body is different. On average, a normal person has 15 to 20 moles on their body, and generally no treatment is required. However, moles that become malignant, grow rapidly, or affect appearance require treatment.

Surgical treatment: For moles with a diameter greater than 3 mm, non-surgical treatment may cause obvious scarring. Fusiform excision or multi-stage excision (with an interval of 3-6 months between the two surgeries) is recommended. For moles with a larger area, skin grafting or various skin flaps can be used. In principle, all excised mole specimens should be sent for pathological examination.

Non-surgical treatment: including laser, electrolysis, freezing, chemical cauterization, etc. For moles, it is only suitable for those with a diameter of less than 3 mm, superficial surface and clear diagnosis. Repeated photothermal and other effects may increase the chance of malignant transformation of moles; for freckles, grinding can be used; for Ota nevus, Ito nevus, etc., laser treatment is the first choice.

Systemic assistance: Appropriate supplementation of vitamin C and fruits rich in vitamin C, and topical hydroquinone antioxidants can reduce melanin synthesis.

Precautions

If any mole appears to be significantly enlarged, change color, ulcerate, lose hair, develop satellite lesions, become infected, or become painful within a short period of time, it may be a sign of malignancy and you should see a hospital as soon as possible.
