Rosenthal Effect

Rosenthal Effect

Many people are not very familiar with this. This is a psychological problem that refers to the patient's high expectations for certain things, and he cares a lot about other people's accusations and cannot make good self-judgments. He often has a rebellious mentality. In fact, in this case, as long as it is reasonably guided and improved, it can be slowly recovered.

What is the Rosenthal Effect

What is the Rosenthal effect? Not many people are familiar with this term. In fact, it means that when a teacher has high expectations for a student, the student will often be affected and achieve the expected results.

In 1968, American psychologists Rosenthal and L. Jacobson came to an elementary school and conducted seven experiments.

They selected 3 classes from grades one to six and conducted a "Future Development Trend Test" on the students in these 18 classes. Afterwards, Rosenthal handed a list of "the most promising ones" to the principal and relevant teachers in an approving tone, and told them to keep it confidential so as not to affect the accuracy of the experiment. In fact, the students on Rosenthal's list were chosen at random. Eight months later, Rosenthal and his assistants re-examined the students in those 18 classes. The results were surprising, because every student on the list had made great progress in their grades, and they had lively and cheerful personalities, strong self-confidence, strong curiosity, and were more willing to deal with others.

By analogy, this effect also works on the other side. For example, you wore a pair of shoes that you thought were very nice to go to work, but several colleagues said they were ugly. When the first colleague said it, you might have thought it was just her personal opinion, but as more people say it, you slowly begin to doubt your own judgment and aesthetic vision. So when you get off work, the first thing you do when you get home is to take off your shoes and decide not to wear them to work anymore.

All in all, this effect is actually a psychological suggestion.
