Symptoms of deep lymph node enlargement in lymphoma

Lymphoma often affects deep lymph nodes, among which the mediastinum is a common site of lymphoma. In addition, lymphoma can also affect the retroperitoneal lymph nodes and mesenteric lymph nodes. Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) often affects the para-aortic lymph nodes, while non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) often affects the axillary lymph nodes, inguinal lymph nodes, abdominal lymph node area and extranodal organs.

When lymphoma involves the retroperitoneal lymph nodes, there is usually high fever, which is not cured by anti-inflammatory treatment.

Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) often invades the para-aortic lymph nodes. Some scholars believe that the lesions of the para-aortic lymph nodes reach the spleen through the blood, from the spleen to the splenic hilar lymph nodes, and then to the para-aortic lymph nodes. Generally, the para-aortic lymph nodes are related to the invasion of the spleen. In addition, the neck and mediastinal lymph nodes are also common sites for Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL).

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) can invade the neck, mediastinum, axilla, groin, abdominal lymph nodes and extranodal organs. NHL patients with large mediastinal masses often develop superior vena cava obstruction syndrome, which is manifested by neck and facial edema, mediastinal lesions compressing the trachea, lungs, and esophagus, causing dry cough, dysphagia and other symptoms. It can also compress the phrenic nerve or directly invade the lungs and pericardium.
