Lumbar disc herniation and leg weakness

Lumbar disc herniation and leg weakness

In life, many of our friends will experience leg weakness or pain. In fact, the occurrence of this symptom is most likely due to lumbar disc herniation, which causes compression of the sciatic nerve and induces leg discomfort. The occurrence of lumbar disc herniation is closely related to our poor sitting posture for a long time, so it is recommended that everyone should develop good sitting habits.

Lumbar disc herniation is one of the more common diseases. It is mainly caused by different degrees of degenerative changes in the various parts of the lumbar disc (nucleus pulposus, annulus fibrosus and cartilage plate), especially the nucleus pulposus. Under the influence of external factors, the annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc ruptures, and the nucleus pulposus tissue protrudes (or falls out) from the rupture to the back or inside the spinal canal, causing the adjacent spinal nerve roots to be stimulated or compressed, resulting in a series of clinical symptoms such as low back pain, numbness and pain in one or both lower limbs. The highest incidence of lumbar disc herniation is at L4-5 and L5-S1, accounting for about 95%.

Everyone knows that lumbar disc herniation is most likely to cause nerve compression. The main symptoms of nerve compression are weakness in the limbs and numbness and soreness in the legs. Patients with lumbar disc herniation cannot walk when the pain comes, and sometimes cannot lie down to rest. The pain it brings to patients cannot be expressed in words.

If you feel back pain , or numbness in your legs or weakness in your limbs, you should go to the hospital for a prompt check-up. It is recommended that patients have an MRI film. Through MRI, it can be clearly checked whether you have lumbar disc herniation. After being diagnosed, you should receive timely treatment, or massage to reduce the disc, which will produce obvious therapeutic effects.

Everyone must develop good living habits in daily life, strengthen exercise, do not sit for a long time, move around regularly, and do not do heavy physical work. Be sure to pay attention to the combination of work and rest. If you have back pain, leg numbness, or weakness in your limbs, you must seek timely treatment and control.

Note:

When you experience lower back pain , leg numbness or weakness in your limbs, you should pay close attention to it. This symptom is most likely to induce lumbar disc herniation, so you must check and treat it in time.
