What's the matter with excessive saliva

Saliva is the most common secretion in our lives and it is also the most normal thing in our body. Sometimes the amount of hair loss may also reflect certain conditions or symptoms of our body. So if we spit too much or abnormally in our daily life, we must seek medical attention in time, or take some related drugs to relieve our symptoms, so as to avoid too serious situations. So let’s understand what causes excessive saliva in daily life.

1. What is the reason for excessive saliva

I don’t know why I have a lot of saliva. Let’s find out together.

There are many reasons for excessive drooling. Not paying attention to oral hygiene habits in daily life can easily cause drooling while sleeping. Some people have tooth deformities due to congenital genetic factors or acquired bad living habits, which can also cause drooling while sleeping. In addition, patients with neurological disorders often have symptoms of drooling while sleeping.

Saliva, medically known as spit, is a colorless, transparent, foamy, slightly turbid liquid. The amount of saliva secretion is similar to that of urine, averaging about 1,500 ml per day.

Drooling while sleeping is generally caused by the following factors

1. Poor oral hygiene

The temperature and humidity in the mouth are most suitable for the reproduction of bacteria. The accumulation of food residues or sugar substances in the gaps between teeth and on the tooth surfaces can easily lead to caries and periodontal disease. These adverse factors are stimulating and can cause drooling while sleeping.

2. Anterior Teeth Deformity

This may be due to genetic factors that lead to acquired bad habits, such as biting nails, sticking out tongue, biting pencil heads, etc., which cause front tooth deformities and drooling while sleeping.

3. Neuroregulatory disorders

The regulation of saliva secretion is completely neuroreflexive. The so-called "looking at the plum to quench thirst" is an example of conditioned reflex saliva secretion in daily life. Therefore, disorders in neural regulation may also cause drooling while sleeping. If you drool while sleeping, the drool tastes salty, and your pillowcase is light yellow, it is most likely due to poor oral hygiene, accumulation of food residues, and excessive tartar over time, which can cause gingivitis and even a small amount of bleeding gums. Therefore, the saliva that flows out while sleeping tastes salty and is light yellow in color.

2. What to do if you have too much saliva

The prevention and treatment methods are: first of all, pay attention to oral hygiene, and develop the habit of brushing your teeth in the morning and evening, and rinsing your mouth after meals. You can also consult a dentist, use cleaning therapy to remove tartar, take vitamins C and B2 and other medicines to eliminate gingivitis and reduce adverse stimulation.

It may be caused by excessive gastric acid secretion. Take lansoprazole tablets orally, one tablet a day. Rest on time, stay energetic, do not eat sour or irritating foods, and do not drink beer. I suggest you see a gastroenterologist.

First, go to bed early

Don't stay up late, this is for the purpose of nourishing your spirit. Only when you are energetic can you control yourself. You may ask how can I sleep if I keep swallowing? Ha~~ Of course you can't just sleep like this. You should do some exercise before going to bed, sweat a lot, take a shower, and drink a glass of milk. You may swallow your saliva uncontrollably, but don't think about controlling it. Just let it swallow.

Second, do something you are interested in

Find something that interests you, such as drinking, listening to music, running, etc. Just distract your attention. Also, when you feel like swallowing, just find a song to sing! While singing, look at the scenery and think about other things. It is very effective.
