What is the reason for blood coming out of the anus when defecating

If there is blood in the stool, the biggest cause is hemorrhoids. But in addition to hemorrhoids, intestinal diseases such as intestinal ulcers, parasitic infections, rectal cancer, intestinal polyps, as well as blood diseases, acute infectious diseases, vitamin deficiency or poisoning can all cause symptoms of bloody stools. Therefore, if patients want to completely cure the symptoms of bloody stools, they need to find out the cause in advance so that they can better prescribe the right medicine and achieve good treatment results!

Category 1: Intestinal diseases

1. Intestinal ulcers and inflammation, such as bacterial and amebic dysentery, typhoid fever, ulcerative colitis, etc.;

2. Parasitic infections, such as hookworm disease, schistosomiasis, etc.;

3. Tumors, such as rectal cancer, colon cancer, intestinal polyps, etc.;

4. Intestinal blood circulation disorders, such as hemorrhoids, intussusception, intestinal strangulation, etc.;

5. Injuries, such as anal fissures, abrasions from instrument examination or dry stool, etc.

Category II: Other systemic diseases

It is a disease of other systems besides the intestine, and can be divided into:

1. Blood diseases, such as various types of purpura, leukemia, hemophilia, etc.;

2. Acute infectious diseases, such as epidemic hemorrhagic fever, leptospirosis, etc.;

3. Vitamin deficiency, such as lack of vitamin C or K;

4. Poisoning or drug toxicity, such as bacterial food poisoning, mercury poisoning, etc. Usually, the main causes of bloody stools in children are rectal polyps or intussusception. In young people, bloody stools are mostly caused by hemorrhoids, anal fissures and colitis. For middle-aged and elderly people who have bloody stools accompanied by changes in bowel habits, the possibility of intestinal tumors should be considered.

TCM Analysis of the Causes of Blood in the Stool

Hematochezia is also known as "bloody stool", "bleeding" and "hemedema", and is characterized by bloody stool or fresh stool after defecation. It is more common in upper gastrointestinal ulcer bleeding, gastrointestinal polyps, small intestinal bleeding, tumors, bleeding from perianal diseases, as well as some blood diseases, acute infectious drugs, parasites, etc. This refers to blood in the stool caused by hemorrhoid rupture, anal fissure, anal sinusitis, and rectal colon mucosal damage. The stool is soft and formed or hard, with blood attached to the surface of the stool. Sometimes the blood comes before the stool, and sometimes the stool comes before the blood. The blood is mostly bright red, and sometimes dark red and turbid. When the amount of blood is large, it will not stop dripping, and the pain in the anus will worsen after defecation.
