How to reduce swelling after being bitten by a snake

In summer, snakes are most common, especially in southern my country. Because the weather is warm, most snakes like to live there. If you are bitten by a snake, you must disinfect and reduce swelling in time, otherwise the venom may spread in the body and cause death. After being bitten by a snake, you must quickly determine whether it is a venomous snake. So how to reduce swelling after being bitten by a snake?

(1) Causes

When a poisonous snake bites a sheep, it injects venom into the wound. The venom spreads throughout the body through the blood or lymph, causing poisoning. The bite sites are mostly on the lower jaw and lower limbs.

(2) Symptoms

They are generally divided into blood circulating toxins and neurotoxins. Blood circulation toxins: Bleeding from the wound is difficult to stop, the bite wound swells quickly and spreads toward the proximal end, and the wound turns purple and necrotic. Bleeding occurs on the skin and mucous membranes throughout the body, and there may even be hematuria and bloody stools. Once hemolysis occurs, anemia, jaundice and hemoglobinuria will occur, and eventually heart failure will lead to death. Neurotoxins: Local symptoms are mild, mainly manifested as neurological dysfunction. Depression, weakness in the limbs, difficulty swallowing, drooling, dilated pupils, decreased vision, paralysis of the limbs, difficulty breathing, convulsions, coma, and finally death from respiratory paralysis.

(3) Treatment

① Quickly tie a bandage about 5 cm proximal to the wound to block venous and lymphatic return and reduce the spread of venom in the body.

Cut the hair around the wound, apply iodine and pierce the skin with a needle, or make a cross incision to facilitate the discharge of venom, then apply 3% ammonia water and use 5-100 ml of 0.25% procaine solution to inject in spots around the wound.

② Detoxification: Oral administration or application of Ji Desheng Snake Medicine Tablets, Shanghai Snake Medicine Tablets, etc., please refer to the instructions for use.

③ Chinese medicine: Grind up the roots of the herb, Dictamni, with vinegar and wine, and apply it around the injured area once in the morning and afternoon. It will be cured in 1 to 2 days.

④Symptomatic treatment. To maintain heart function and stimulate the respiratory center. Glucose and sodium chloride solution or methenamine may be injected intravenously.
