How to deal with tooth decay

How to deal with tooth decay

In daily life, we often have toothache. There are many reasons for toothache, among which tooth decay in the gaps between teeth is one of the common causes of toothache. People often say "toothache is not a disease, but it is really painful when it happens", so if there is tooth decay in the gaps between teeth, it must be dealt with in time, otherwise if it is serious, we will have to extract the tooth. In fact, there are many little tricks in life that can relieve the pain of cavities between teeth. Let’s talk about them below.

For cavities that have already formed, you must go to the dentist immediately and let the dentist take timely measures to fill the cavities and prevent them from further deteriorating. You must not have the idea of waiting and forgetting it. The view that "toothache is not a disease" is not only wrong, but also delays treatment, causing tooth decay to worsen, tooth necrosis, and may also lead to more tooth decay. If it really reaches the stage where the pain is unbearable, sometimes even the dentist can't help you, which is really a case of not filling a small hole and suffering from a big hole. After getting tooth decay, it is even more necessary to use high-quality fluoride toothpaste, as the saying goes "it's never too late to mend the fold after the sheep have been lost". Because high-quality fluoride toothpaste, such as Crest Fluoride formula anti-caries toothpaste, on the one hand, can use fluoride ions to enter the tooth surface to form a protective layer to help resist the erosion of acidic substances, thereby helping to prevent the deterioration of tooth decay; on the other hand, this fluoride ion can act on other teeth, for some potential tooth decay risks, that is, small cavities, it plays a role in promoting tooth remineralization, repairing these early small cavities, and avoiding further development of tooth decay.

1. When you have a toothache, you can cut a small piece of ginger and bite it on the painful area. You can use it repeatedly when necessary, and it is also okay to hold it in your mouth when you sleep.

2. Apply honey to the area where the tooth hurts, it will heal in a few minutes and it will also make your mouth full of fragrance.

3. Use a toothpick to pick up a little Yunnan Baiyao and add a drop of boiling water to make a paste. Then use the toothpick to dip the Yunnan Baiyao paste into the painful area. Generally, the pain will stop after 3 to 5 minutes.

4. Hold aloe vera in your mouth: Cut a small piece of aloe vera, peel off the skin, and hold the pulp containing sticky liquid in the painful area. It will relieve itself in 2 to 3 hours.

5. Ice compress: Just like treating bruises, ice compress the cheek where the toothache occurs to relieve pain. Apply for 15 minutes each time, at least 3 to 4 times a day.

Treatment: Dentists can apply high concentrations of fluoride to the area with early tooth decay to restore the early decayed parts.

Tooth decay spreads to the dentin: Cavities appear in the teeth and you will feel tooth pain when eating.

Treatment method: Fill the tooth when the decayed area is not large and the tooth is still strong. If the decay becomes extensive and the tooth becomes very fragile, an artificial crown will be placed.

Tooth decay spreads to the dental pulp: Obvious cavities appear on the teeth, causing severe pain. The dental pulp may be infected by bacteria and become necrotic. Bacteria may even spread from the dental pulp through the root to the nearby periodontal tissues, causing inflammation or abscesses.

Treatment: Endodontic treatment (root canal), if necessary, an artificial crown will be fitted. If the dentist deems the tooth not suitable for endodontic treatment, the tooth will need to be extracted.

"Tooth decay" is medically known as dental caries, which is caused by Streptococcus mutans in dental plaque attached to the tooth surface fermenting sugar and starch in food to produce acid, gradually causing tooth demineralization and defects. Therefore, to prevent dental caries, we must start with removing dental plaque, reducing sugar intake and improving the acid resistance of teeth.
