What happens to the skin after using hormones?

Hormones are very common things in our lives. Hormones have many functions. They are not only necessary basic substances secreted by the body, but also necessities for regulating the body. However, hormones cannot be used in large quantities, otherwise it will have a very adverse effect on health. The most obvious manifestation is that it has a great impact on the skin. Let’s take a look at what will happen to the skin after using hormones? I hope everyone can understand this explanation.

The harm of hormones to the skin

1. The outermost layer of the skin is the stratum corneum, which is the protective layer of the skin and also has a self-renewal metabolic cycle. Hormones will inhibit the regeneration of keratinocytes. If there is only waste keratin but no new keratin, the stratum corneum will lose its protective effect on the skin and make the skin rough.

2. Hormones are also called adrenal glucocorticoids. Like male hormones, adrenal hormones can also stimulate the secretion of sebaceous glands. When the secretion of sebaceous glands is disrupted, your face will become very oily or very dry, and then the skin will have symptoms of acne or dryness and peeling;

3. The stratum corneum and sebum membrane are the natural protective barriers of the skin. Under the destruction of hormones, they lose their protective effect on the skin. Then harmful free radicals, excessive ultraviolet rays, PM2.5, pollen, dust and other irritants will stimulate the skin and cause skin inflammation. This is the beginning of hormonal dermatitis; symptoms of skin inflammation include skin sensitivity, redness and heat, erythema, allergies, yellow discharge, etc.

4. When the protective barrier on the surface of the skin is damaged, the capillaries will expand upward from the dermis to transport nutrients to the skin. This expansion forms red blood streaks;

5. As mentioned in the third point, ultraviolet rays can also attack the skin. We all know that ultraviolet rays can produce melanin, which makes the skin darker. Therefore, after using hormone products and then stopping the use of hormone products, the skin will have varying degrees of darkening, pigmentation and hormone spots.
