Pressure ulcers are a disease that often occurs in a certain group of people, namely the paralyzed population. Because paralyzed people lie in bed for a long time, pressure sores are prone to occur in the parts that come into contact with the bed. Because pressure sores are a skin disease caused by a part of the skin being in an airtight pressure environment for a long time and blood circulation is poor. So if there is a paralyzed patient at home, how should we prevent and care for pressure sores? 1. Definition of pressure ulcer Pressure ulcers are caused by long-term pressure on local body tissues, blood circulation disorders, continuous ischemia, hypoxia, and nutrient deficiency of local tissues, which causes the skin to lose its normal function and lead to tissue damage and necrosis. Pressure ulcers are not a disease in themselves. Most of them are skin damage caused by poor care of other primary diseases. 2. Common causes of pressure sores 1. Stress factors: long-term bed rest and improper patient transportation methods. 2. The skin is moist for a long time. 3. The elderly and those with poor nutritional status. 3. Common sites of pressure sores 1. Lie flat: heels, sacrum, elbows, shoulder blades, occipital protuberances, and vertebral protuberances of the spine. 2. Lying on your side: inner and outer ankles, outer edges of the feet, hips, elbows, acromion, ears, and inner and outer sides of the knee joints. 4. Prevention of Pressure Ulcers 1. Avoid long-term pressure on local tissues. 2. Avoid pulling or forcibly moving the patient. 3. Keep the patient's bed unit dry, clean and free of debris. 4. Keep the patient's skin clean and dry. 5. Turn the patient over regularly, pat his back, and massage the pressure areas. 6. Ensure the patient's nutritional intake. 5. Treatment and care of pressure sores 1. Strengthen preventive measures. 2. Give the patient sterile dressing and bandage according to the severity of the pressure ulcer. 3. Ultraviolet and infrared irradiation can reduce inflammation and kill bacteria, promote blood circulation, and enhance cell function. At the same time, it can dry the wound surface, reduce exudation, and is beneficial to tissue regeneration and repair. 4. Give medication treatment for infected pressure sores. 5. Particularly severe pressure ulcers should undergo surgical intervention. |
