The mouth opens and the bones make a sound

When you open your mouth, your bones make a sound. This is mainly a symptom of temporomandibular arthritis. If this problem occurs, do not take it lightly. You must receive active treatment to prevent the disease from worsening and causing greater harm to your body. So, what are the methods for treating temporomandibular arthritis? Here are some treatments and pain relief tips for temporomandibular arthritis.

1. Temporomandibular arthritis

Temporomandibular arthritis, a condition of the joint where the jaw connects to the ear, is also a common source of pain. Place your fingers in front of the ear canals on both sides and open your mouth wide, and you will hear a sound similar to splitting. Symptoms of TMJ arthritis are very common. These include local joint pain, ear pain, headache, noise and pain when chewing, and are accompanied by pain in various muscles. The ability to open the mouth is limited, and swallowing food is sometimes difficult.

2. Treatment Methods

Proteolytic enzyme candy: Papaya enzyme extracted from papaya and bromelain extracted from pineapple are two proteolytic enzymes that can be used. Dissolving them between the cheeks and gums in the mouth can help reduce swelling. For example, Clear ease sugar will have a certain effect if taken by chewing three to four times a day.

Anti-inflammatory drugs: Naproxen sodium, aspirin, and other nonsteroidal drugs are effective.

Steroids: Whether this type of drug is injected directly into the joint or taken orally, it should be used according to the advice of a doctor or dentist. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) examination can provide the most detailed information about the joint condition and can be used as a reference for treatment.

Give your jaw a rest: Use a scarf or chin strap to support your jaw and take weight off the jaw joint.

3. Mitigation methods

If medical tests show no medical cause that requires treatment, you can use the following steps to relieve your headaches and TMJ symptoms. However, medical examination is still necessary to avoid misdiagnosis and treatment.

Relaxation helps with all headaches, TMJ issues, and just about any pain. The relaxation process described here takes about ten minutes. It also helps relieve excessive tension and apparent anxiety. That said, this relaxation process can be used for many things in life: it helps with most neck and back muscle problems, relieves muscle tension no matter what the problem is, and is effective for all types of anxiety, tension, and nervousness.

Some patients develop an anxiety cycle: the more anxious they are, the more nervous they become, and the more nervous they become, the more uneasy they feel, which causes muscle (or jaw) tension. This tension increases the uneasiness, making the anxiety worse, the nerves more tense, and causing the body to produce certain mood-depressing chemicals. One way to stop this cycle is to use large doses of drugs, such as when a person is knocked out so that they no longer feel nervous. Of course this approach has many flaws. A better approach is to use biofeedback.
