What are the gastrointestinal medicines

The stomach and intestines are two organs. As the main digestive system, the positions of the two organs are different. The stomach is in an acidic environment, and the intestines are in an alkaline environment. The environments of these two channels are different, so the diseases are different. Regarding gastrointestinal medications, there are mainly digestive aids and drugs for treating ulcers. There are many types and categories of drugs, so we need to take a look and understand them carefully.

Gastrointestinal medicine

The stomach and intestines are the main components of the digestive system. The two are in different positions. The stomach is in an acidic environment, and the intestines are in an alkaline environment. The environments are different, the symptoms of the disease are also different, and the medicines used are naturally different.

2 Digestive aids

When the digestive organs malfunction and digestive juices are insufficiently secreted, such as too low stomach acid or reduced pancreatic juice secretion, digestive disorders such as fullness and gas will occur. Usually, digestive aids are taken to enhance digestion and eliminate the symptoms. If a person lacks stomach acid, he can be given 1% hydrochloric acid, 5 mL each time, three times a day. If the gastric digestive function declines, you can take pepsin tablets, 0.3g each time, three times a day. Commonly used multi-enzyme tablets, each tablet contains 0.12g of amylase, 0.04g of pepsin, and 0.12g of pancreatic enzyme. It is a digestive aid. Take 1 to 2 tablets each time, three times a day.

3 Ulcer medicine

Ulcer medication is basically a mixture of acid suppressants and antispasmodics. The root cause of ulcer disease is excessive stomach acid. All weak alkaline preparations that can neutralize stomach acid, such as aluminum hydroxide and sodium bicarbonate, can be used as acid inhibitors. In addition, antispasmodics are mostly anticholeline drugs, which can relieve spasms, inhibit gastric acid secretion, and achieve the functions of relieving pain and suppressing acid.

The commonly used compound Weishuping contains 0.25g aluminum hydroxide, 0.11g magnesium trisilicate, and 0.003g belladonna fluid extract (antispasmodic) in each tablet. Adults take 2 to 4 tablets orally on an empty stomach or before bed. Gastric mucosa extract is a polysaccharide extracted from pig gastric mucosa that is resistant to gastric acid. It will swell into a slurry when in contact with water. After ingestion, it can temporarily form a thin film in the stomach to protect ulcers from gastric acid stimulation. Adults take 2 to 3 grams each time, 4 times a day. It is more effective when taken with aluminum hydroxide.
