Symptoms and signs

This disease is common in middle-aged or elderly women and is related to mental factors. It may also be accompanied by other systemic diseases, such as niacin deficiency, pernicious anemia, etc. Sometimes there are local irritants or the lingual branch of the fifth cranial nerve is irritated. The prominent feature of this disease is the main complaint of obvious pain or burning sensation, with the most sensitive area being the tip of the tongue. Fatigue, smoking, excessive drinking, spicy foods, or very hot beverages can increase discomfort, even though objective oral examination may reveal nothing. Sometimes the tongue surface is slightly smooth and slightly red. Some patients have bad breath or abnormal sensations in their mouths, such as an asymmetrical or uneven tongue, or even the feeling that they have a "tumor".

Treatment options

The patient should be given necessary examinations and if there are systemic or local causes, they should be corrected. And do a good job of persuasion and explanation to dispel ideological concerns. Avoid spicy food.
