What are the three major factors that are most likely to cause lung cancer?

At present, the vast majority of causes of lung cancer have been clearly identified, but there are some cases where the causes are not obvious. This is generally rare, and the prevention of lung cancer is mainly to avoid contact with these high-incidence causes. The main factors that lead to lung cancer are summarized below:

1. Experts say that smoking is one of the important causes of lung cancer. All data show that there is a significant relationship between lung cancer and smoking, because tobacco contains a large amount of carcinogens. The incidence of lung cancer in smokers is ten times higher than that of non-smokers, and the incidence is even higher in heavy smokers, which is twice as high as that of non-smokers. Among clinically diagnosed lung cancer cases, patients who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day for 30 years have an 80% chance of developing lung cancer.

2. Occupational factors are also related to the occurrence of lung cancer. Long-term exposure to some radioactive substances or their derivatives can lead to lung cancer, such as arsenic, chromium, nickel, copper, tin, iron, coal tar, asphalt, petroleum, asbestos, mustard gas, etc. Therefore, everyone must pay attention to such problems.

3. Air pollution is also one of the important factors for the high incidence of lung cancer. The incidence of lung cancer in cities with serious pollution is much higher than in rural areas. The main reason is that in industrial and transportation developed areas, the combustion of oil, coal and internal combustion engines and asphalt road dust produces harmful substances such as benzopyrene carcinogenic hydrocarbons that pollute the atmosphere. Survey materials show that the incidence of lung cancer increases in areas with high concentrations of benzopyrene in the atmosphere. At the same time, in cities with serious air pollution, the probability of smokers suffering from lung cancer increases greatly.

In addition, timely and regular physical examinations are also very important. Although this is not a way to prevent lung cancer, since the incidence of lung cancer is increasing, timely detection of the disease can be said to be the focus of prevention, and at present, it is also one of the key measures.
