Red rashes all over the body

Red rashes all over the body

The appearance of rashes is mostly caused by skin diseases. Depending on the location and size of the area, rashes are divided into many types. Generally speaking, rashes appear locally. If a rash appears all over the body, it is worrying. The red rashes all over the body may be accompanied by symptoms such as runny nose, cough, and swollen eyelids. As long as timely treatment is carried out, the recovery effect is still very good. So, what should you do if you have rashes all over your body? Let’s take a look below.

Erythema refers to small, hill-shaped, red rashes that are higher than the skin surface and have defined boundaries. However, there are also some that are not higher than the surface of the skin and cannot be felt when touched. They are called rashes. (The Epidemic Disease Chapter) says: "The big ones are spots, and the small ones are rashes." This is to distinguish spots and rashes based on their shape and size.

Medication Guidelines

Systemic treatment

① Antihistamines mainly have a calming and antipruritic effect.

② Antibiotics should be given appropriately for cases with extensive skin lesions, erosion, and exudation, even if there are no obvious signs of bacterial infection. Such as erythromycin 250 mg, 4 times a day.

③ In principle, steroid hormones are not used in general cases, but atopic asthma is an exception. For severe cases, it can be used for a short period of time (2 to 3 weeks) to control symptoms as quickly as possible.

④Immunosuppressants include azathioprine, cyclosporine A (CYA) and interferon. There is currently insufficient data to confirm its efficacy in treating AD.

⑤ Try to avoid long-term or short-term use of large doses of topical corticosteroids. Traditional Chinese medicine overcomes this drawback. For example, pure Chinese medicine preparations can be used twice a day, and the treatment is safe and thorough.

Topical treatments

① Steroid hormones are used for skin lesions with severe inflammation but no obvious erosion or exudation. During the treatment, change the types appropriately. Use strong ones at first to control the symptoms as quickly as possible, and then gradually switch to medium and low-efficiency ones after a few days. For skin lesions in different parts of the body, attention should also be paid to the selection of varieties. If the skin lesions are extensive, especially in infants and young children, it is advisable to use preparations with weaker effects or lower concentrations.

②Antibiotics are used for infected skin lesions. Often used in combination with steroid hormones.

③ Tars such as coal tar and bran oil are effective against AD. Pastes are commonly used and applied alone or in combination with hormone preparations.

Syndrome differentiation and treatment

① Fetal heat syndrome

In infancy, the rash often occurs on the cheeks with erythema, densely packed needle-tip-sized papules, papulovesicles, blisters and exudates. When the exudate dries up, an orange-yellow scab forms, which is then peeled off to reveal a flushed erosive surface. The tongue is red, with little coating and purple fingerprints.

② Damp-heat syndrome

In the childhood stage, the most common rashes are pinhead papules, papulovesicles and small blisters, some of which are fused into patches with mild infiltration and are mostly concentrated in the elbows, popliteal fossa and other parts. The patient feels severe itching, and scratching causes bleeding or exudation. The tongue is red, the tongue coating is thin yellow, and the pulse is moist and rapid.

③Blood dryness syndrome

In the adult stage, the rash mainly occurs on the elbows, knees, neck, etc. It is thick and lichenified with unclear boundaries. After scratching or friction, there is a small amount of exudation or blood scab, and it is dry, even cracked and uncomfortable, especially at night. The tongue is pale red, with little coating, and the pulse is thready and rapid.
