What is the reason for the pain in my lungs?

The lungs are an important part of our respiratory system and are also a part that is prone to disease. Once they become diseased, they have a great impact on our health. In daily life, some people feel pain in their lungs. A single pain cannot ultimately determine the cause, and we can only make a comprehensive judgment based on the diseases that contain this symptom. So, what is the reason for the pain in the lungs? Let’s take a look below.

1. Chest wall disease

For example, intercostal neuralgia and herpes zoster, the pain is sharp.

2. Visceral Diseases

For example, pneumonia affects the chest wall, tuberculosis can cause pleural effusion, and there are some uncommon malignant lesions; heart disease, usually on the left side.

3. Diseases caused by other reasons

Generally speaking, lung pain is mostly caused by pleura. If there is no problem with the heart, but it only hurts when turning around, coughing, or laughing loudly, it is mostly caused by pleurisy.

Pleurisy usually causes pleural effusion, after which chest pain disappears but breathing difficulties occur.

It is very mild at the beginning, and will gradually worsen as the fluid accumulation increases. If the patient has difficulty breathing, he or she is advised to go to the hospital immediately. If not, the patient should also be observed carefully.

Secondly, pulmonary function testing is a completely non-invasive method to measure lung function.

When the lungs become diseased, it will cause hypoxia in the human body and cause damage to organs throughout the body.

By testing lung function, doctors can understand whether the patient's lungs are normal or the extent to which the lungs are damaged by disease. This helps doctors take proactive measures to prevent further progression of the disease.

People who need lung function tests mainly include

1. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

2. Bronchial asthma.

3. Diagnosis of interstitial lung disease.

4. Patients undergoing chest surgery must undergo a lung function test before surgery.

5. Long-term smokers should also undergo regular lung function tests to observe any damage to their lung function and urge patients to make up their minds to quit smoking.
