Common knowledge about lung cancer and scientific treatment plans

Lung cancer is the malignant tumor with the highest incidence rate in China and even in the world. The incidence rate of lung cancer in men in my country ranks first among malignant tumors. Lung cancer can be divided into central lung cancer according to its anatomy, which accounts for about three quarters and is mostly composed of squamous cell carcinoma and small cell undifferentiated carcinoma; there is also a type of peripheral lung cancer, which is mostly composed of adenocarcinoma.

Lung cancer can be divided into small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer according to histology. Non-small cell lung cancer includes squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, large cell carcinoma, etc.

Common symptoms of lung cancer include cough, blood in sputum, hemoptysis, chest pain and fever. Patients may also seek medical treatment for headache, vomiting due to brain metastasis, pain due to bone metastasis and neck lumps.

There are many ways to diagnose lung cancer, but the diagnosis is based on cytology or histopathology. Oncologists in tertiary hospitals will recommend patients to undergo relevant tests for diagnosis. Benign tumors, tuberculosis lesions, and pneumonia need to be differentiated.

Scientific treatment of lung cancer

The treatment of lung cancer should adopt the principle of comprehensive treatment and multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment mode to achieve radical cure or maximum control of tumors, improve cure rate, improve patients' quality of life and prolong patients' survival. At present, the treatment methods of lung cancer are mainly surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and biological therapy.

The treatment principle of non-small cell lung cancer is to mainly use surgery in the early stage, supplemented by biological therapy; for resectable locally advanced stage, adjuvant chemotherapy + surgery + postoperative adjuvant therapy (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, biological therapy); for unresectable locally advanced stage, chemoradiotherapy combined with biological therapy; for advanced stage with distant metastasis, palliative therapy is mainly used (palliative chemoradiotherapy and biological therapy)

The treatment principle of small cell lung cancer is mainly systemic chemotherapy, supplemented by surgery and (or) biological therapy and radiotherapy.
