What are the treatments for severe hepatitis?

With the increase in major industrial production chains in recent years, the pollution of the surrounding environment has become more and more serious, causing many people to suffer from hepatitis. Hepatitis patients can easily develop severe hepatitis in this environment. Perhaps some people are still very unfamiliar with hepatitis, but nothing is absolute. Nowadays, social communication is so wide and the contact between people is so close. Everyone must first understand it to be prepared. So what are the treatments for severe hepatitis? Let me introduce it to you today.

With everyone’s questions in mind, let’s first take a look at what severe hepatitis is. Severe hepatitis is also known as liver failure. Its treatment principle is comprehensive treatment based on supportive and symptomatic treatment to promote liver cell regeneration and prevent and treat various complications. For patients who are difficult to treat conservatively, an artificial liver support system can be used if conditions permit, and liver transplantation can be attempted.

1. General symptomatic treatment

The patient needs to stay in bed absolutely and be in intensive care. The patient's condition must be closely monitored to prevent hospital infection. The protein in the diet should be reduced as much as possible to control the source of ammonia in the intestine. Glucose can be given intravenously for those who do not eat enough. Sufficient amounts of vitamins B, C, and K should be supplemented. Fresh blood, albumin, and immunoglobulin should be transfused.

2. Promote the regeneration of liver cells

Hepatocyte growth factor: This type of drug used clinically is mainly derived from animal milk liver or fetal liver. It is a small molecule polypeptide substance with certain therapeutic effects.

Glucagon-insulin therapy: Its efficacy is still controversial. During the infusion, the patient should be observed for adverse reactions such as vomiting, palpitations, hypoglycemia, etc., and timely treatment should be given.

3. Prevention and treatment of complications

Patients with severe hepatitis may develop complications such as hepatic encephalopathy, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, secondary infection, and hepatorenal syndrome. Once these complications occur, active treatment measures should be taken.

4. Artificial liver support therapy

Non-biological artificial liver support systems have been used in clinical practice. Their main function is to remove toxic substances from the patient's blood and replenish biologically active substances. They have a certain effect on early severe hepatitis.

5. Liver transplantation

This method is expensive, difficult to obtain donor livers, has rejection reactions, and often leads to secondary infections (such as cytomegalovirus), which has hindered its widespread application.

From this we can see that when we are sick, we must cooperate with the doctor and actively seek treatment. No matter what stubborn disease it is, we must maintain an optimistic attitude. We have our family and friends, and they will definitely be by our side. Don't let them worry. Only when you are well will everyone be better off.
