I have a stomachache and want to defecate after eating

Many people experience stomach pain and the urge to defecate after eating in their daily lives. This not only causes great harm to the patient's physical health, but also seriously affects their normal eating and living. Therefore, it is particularly important to understand the cause and find scientific and effective treatment methods. Having stomach pain and the urge to defecate after eating may be irritable bowel syndrome, which requires prompt medical treatment. You also need to stay away from six types of food, including insoluble fiber.

1. Having stomach pain and the urge to defecate after eating may be irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disease in which the intestines are particularly easily irritated, characterized by persistent or intermittent abdominal pain, abdominal discomfort, and changes in bowel habits and/or stool characteristics. The typical symptoms are urgency, abdominal pain and discomfort which can be improved with bowel movements. Mental, dietary, cold and other factors may induce recurrence or aggravation of symptoms. Different people have different symptoms. Some people will have diarrhea when they catch a cold, some will have diarrhea when they eat something inappropriate, and some will have diarrhea when they are nervous.

In fact, from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, this disease is not complicated to treat. Since ancient times, the famous prescription "Tongxie Yaofang" has been used to treat this disease. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the syndromes of irritable bowel syndrome are mostly liver depression and spleen deficiency, spleen and kidney yang deficiency or spleen deficiency and dampness and heat. The use of traditional Chinese medicine for syndrome differentiation and treatment is very handy. In my clinic, I usually give patients drugs to regulate intestinal flora based on Western medical theory, which often achieves very good therapeutic effects.

(II) Irritable bowel syndrome patients should stay away from these six foods

1. Insoluble Fiber

Fiber can make your diet healthier. Whole grains, vegetables, and fruits are rich in fiber. However, fiber can make diarrhea worse. Consuming too much insoluble fiber can increase the frequency of bowel movements. Eat soluble fiber, which is commonly found in fruits and vegetables. Keep in mind that while insoluble fiber can relieve constipation, it can also make you bloated.

2. Cereals

While insoluble fiber in whole grains may be one culprit in triggering IBS symptoms, certain grains can cause other problems as well. Products containing rye, wheat and barley contain gluten. This protein can damage the intestines and worsen symptoms of IBS.

Most people know that gluten sensitivity can cause celiac disease (severe chronic diarrhea), and in fact at least half of people with irritable bowel syndrome also have a gluten sensitivity. Fortunately, there are many gluten-free products available on the market that you can buy.

3. Milk

There are two main problems with milk. First, milk contains fat, which can worsen diarrhea. So it is best to drink low-fat or fat-free milk to minimize symptoms. Second, many people with IBS are lactose intolerant.

This means their digestive systems cannot break down the lactose in dairy products. You can still eat yogurt, but it's best to switch to soy milk and cheese. If you decide to eliminate dairy products completely, talk to your doctor about calcium supplements.

Gastrointestinal function indigestion

4. Oily and miscellaneous foods

Fried foods are not only easy to make, but also very delicious, but they should be consumed in moderation. People with IBS have difficulty digesting foods that are high in fat.

This doesn't mean you have to give up your favorite foods. But consider grilling them which might be a healthier option

5. Beans

The more beans you eat, the more energy you get. Beans in general are a great source of protein and fiber, but they may not be suitable if you have IBS.

While beans can relieve constipation, they can also increase gas, bloating, and cramping. People with IBS should avoid eating soy foods

6. Coffee

Some people are used to drinking coffee in the morning, but this can irritate the intestines and cause diarrhea. People with IBS should avoid coffee and caffeinated beverages. If you need a boost, have a light snack or do a brisk walk.

Not everyone with IBS experiences the same symptoms. You can use the process of elimination to find out which foods affect you. Look for possible triggers, then eliminate certain foods from your diet for 12 weeks. If there are obvious changes after not eating a certain food, you can try it repeatedly to confirm. You can also reduce IBS symptoms by eating breakfast every day and eating less meat.
