How to distinguish male and female fish

First, observe the body shape. The female fish is short and round, while the male fish is relatively slender. Another thing is that female fish swim slower and react more slowly during the breeding season; male fish swim more actively and chase more agilely.

Finally, observe the fish's abdomen. The female fish's abdomen is soft, with no obvious hard ridges from the abdomen to the anus, and its abdomen swells and becomes round during the breeding period. The male fish's abdomen is harder, with obvious hard ridges from the abdomen to the anus, and it does not swell during the breeding period. However, this point cannot be misjudged, because some goldfish species, regardless of male or female, have a swollen and round abdomen, so you must be careful when identifying them.
