What's wrong with toes turning outward

Toe valgus is a common problem in life, which has an indirect impact on people's lives. Especially when people walk, toe valgus may cause certain pain and affect people's walking. Generally speaking, the causes of toe valgus are quite complicated and need to be treated in combination with its symptoms. So what exactly is toe valgus?

1. Symptoms

Big toe valgus refers to a deformity in which the big toe tilts outward, greater than the physiological angle of 15 degrees. In addition to squeezing the other toes, the valgus big toe also causes the proximal metatarsal head of the big toe to produce abnormal force and movement inward, resulting in the protrusion of the base of the first metatarsal. When walking, the synovial bursa of the big toe is prone to friction with the shoes, causing severe pain and thick skin. The initial symptoms of big toe valgus are: redness, swelling, pain at the protrusion of the first metatarsal bone, local skin inflammation, and even ulcers. In the later stages, in severe cases, the big toe will overlap with the second toe, pushing the second toe to the back, forming the so-called "eagle claw toe", which often rubs against the shoe and causes discomfort.

2. Treatment recommendations

If it is a simple hallux valgus, you can achieve the treatment effect through the use of correctors. For example, if you observe with the naked eye, you will find that the big toe is slightly tilted. You can wear comfortable shoes more often and avoid wearing pointed or small shoes that put pressure on your feet. You can also massage your toes yourself when you have time. If you have the ability, you can buy hallux valgus correctors for correction. There are night use and day use.

3. Daily care

If your condition has reached a point where you feel it is very serious, it is recommended that you go to a regular hospital's orthopedic department for examination and receive timely treatment. Delaying time will only make the condition worse, because we all understand that the illness will not get better on its own due to our neglect. It will only delay the condition and delay better treatment opportunities.
