Can high temperature kill rabies virus?

Rabies is very dangerous to people's bodies because the mortality rate of rabies is almost 100%, which can cause extremely serious harm to the patient's life, and rabies attacks are almost unstoppable. Therefore, this disease is one of the most feared diseases. Let's take a look at whether high temperature can kill rabies virus? I hope everyone can understand it.

It is okay to use high temperature for a certain period of time, but it is not okay to use high temperature instantly. The virus can be easily inactivated by sunlight, ultraviolet rays, formaldehyde, quaternary ammonium compounds (such as Sanisol), lipid solvents, 50%-70% alcohol, etc. The suspension can be inactivated by heating at 56°C for 30-60 minutes or at 100°C for 2 minutes.

Rabies virus is an enveloped virus with poor heat stability, and boiling is enough to kill it. In addition, rabies is a rare infectious disease. Not all cats and dogs carry and spread the rabies virus. The vast majority of cats and dogs do not carry the virus.

The main clinical manifestations of human rabies are as follows for reference.

The clinical manifestations of rabies in humans are generally divided into four stages: incubation period, prodromal period, excitement period and coma period:

Incubation period: The average is about 10 to 90 days. There have been reports of incubation periods of more than 1 year, but they are very rare. The length of the incubation period and the possibility of onset depend on the site and severity of the injury. During the incubation period, the infected person does not have any symptoms.

Prodromal stage: The infected person begins to feel general discomfort; fever, headache, nausea, fatigue, restlessness; redness, swelling, pain, and a crawling sensation at the bitten area.

Excitement stage: The patient's various symptoms reach their peak, with mental tension, whole body convulsions, hallucinations, delirium, fear of light, sound, water, wind, etc. Therefore, rabies is also called hydrophobia. Patients often suffocate to death due to spasms in the throat.

Coma stage: If the patient manages to survive the excitement stage, he will enter the coma stage. During this stage, the patient is in a deep coma, but the various symptoms of rabies are no longer obvious. Most patients who enter this stage eventually die of exhaustion.
