The following infections caused by strains of Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Propionibacterium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc. that are sensitive to cefdinir:

Pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, pneumonia; otitis media, sinusitis; pyelonephritis, cystitis, gonococcal urethritis; adnexitis, intrauterine infection, vestibular gland inflammation; mastitis, perianal abscess, secondary infection of trauma or surgical wound; folliculitis, furuncle, furuncle, carbuncle, infectious impetigo, erysipelas, cellulitis, lymphangitis, paronychia, subcutaneous abscess, atheroma infection, chronic pyoderma; blepharitis, sty, tarsal gland inflammation;

Precautions

As a general rule, after determining the sensitivity of the microorganism to this product, the course of treatment with this product should be limited to the shortest period required to treat the patient in order to prevent the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria.

It is recommended to avoid co-use with iron preparations. If co-use cannot be avoided, iron preparations should be used 3 hours after taking this product.

Because of the possibility of allergic reactions such as shock, the allergy history should be asked in detail.

The following patients should use it with caution

– Those with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics;

- Those who are prone to allergic symptoms such as bronchial asthma, rash, urticaria, etc.

- Patients with severe renal impairment: Since cefdinir remains in the serum of patients with severe renal impairment for a long time, the dose should be reduced and the dosing interval should be extended according to the severity of the renal impairment. For patients undergoing hemodialysis, the recommended dose is 100 mg once a day.

– Patients with serious underlying diseases, those who cannot eat well or take nutrition non-orally, the elderly, cachexia, etc. (Since vitamin K deficiency may occur, close clinical observation is required).

Impact on clinical test values

– In addition to the urine glucose test using the dipstick method, false positives may occur when using the Benedict reagent, Fehling reagent and Clinitest test methods for urine glucose testing, so be careful.

– Direct serum antiglobulin test may be positive, so be careful.

Other matters needing attention

– Red stools may occur when used with iron-fortified products (such as powdered milk or enteral nutrition).

– Red urine may appear.
