There are hard lumps under the skin on my arms

The arms are the body part we use most frequently, and they are also where problems are most likely to occur. Some people find hard bumps under the skin on their arms. If they are bumps on the skin, they may not be taken seriously. However, it is difficult to determine the cause of the bumps under the skin. After all, the shape of the bumps cannot be distinguished with the naked eye, which naturally increases concern. So, what are the hard bumps under the skin on your arms? What factors cause hard bumps under the skin on the arms?

Hard bumps under the skin on your arms may be subcutaneous fibroids. Subcutaneous tumors (fibromas, lipomas, atheromas) Subcutaneous tumors refer to tumors that occur in the subcutaneous tissue. Most of them are benign tissue tumors, including fibromas, neurofibromas, lipomas, atheromas, etc. in modern medicine. This disease is equivalent to the scope of "accumulation of phlegm nodules", "lipoma" and "slag tumor" in traditional Chinese medicine.

Modern medicine believes that fibroma is a benign tumor composed of fibrous connective tissue, which can be divided into fibromyoma, fibroadenoma, fibrolipoma and so on. Lipoma is caused by abnormal proliferation of adipose tissue in the body. It is a benign soft tissue tumor that generally does not cause adverse consequences. However, those located near nerve trunks may cause tenderness. A sebaceous cyst is a retention cyst caused by obstruction of the sebaceous gland excretion duct. The cyst cavity is filled with bean curd-like sebaceous gland secretions, so it is also called a sebaceous cyst.

Fibroma can occur in various parts of the body, of varying sizes, located under the skin or in the muscle layer, grows slowly, has a smooth surface, a hard texture, and can move freely. If it is a neurofibroma, it is mostly distributed along the nerve trunk and may cause radiating pain when touched. Lipomas can also occur in various parts of the body. They vary in size and grow slowly, often becoming very large. The surface of the skin is smooth, the color does not change, the edges are clear, and they are soft to the touch. Psoralea often occurs on the face, behind the ears, back or buttocks. It can be single or multiple, round or oval in shape, with clear boundaries, thinner skin in the central part, and often a small blue dot in the center that adheres to the skin. When pyroma is combined with infection, the local area will be red, swollen, hot and painful.

Fibroids are mostly benign tumors, and if they are completely removed, there is generally no recurrence. In order to differentiate it from other diseases clinically, surgical resection and histopathological examination are generally recommended. The subcutaneous fibroma in the midline of the posterior neck can be felt when the head is tilted back, but cannot be felt when the head is lowered (because it is covered by the tense posterior cervical fascia). It is more common in the elderly and generally does not require surgery. In addition, some muscle diseases, such as sternocleidomastoid muscle nodules in children with torticollis, sclerofibroma of the rectus abdominis in women, and sclerosing myositis, can also be felt as lumps under the skin. But it does not come from the subcutaneous connective tissue. The main difference between this type of lump and fibroma is that the lump is often connected to the muscle (which can be identified by palpation).
