Do kidney stones need treatment if they are painless?

Kidney stones are a common disease of the urinary system, usually caused by urinary tract infection and other reasons. The general symptoms are frequent urination, urgency and urinary tract obstruction. Severe cases may even cause hematuria. It is often accompanied by pain, but some patients with kidney stones do not feel pain due to various physical reasons or other factors. This symptom will confuse most patients as to whether painless kidney stones should be treated.

Research by relevant experts has shown that different kidney stones must be treated, because even though there is no pain, the disease still stays with you and can cause various damages to your body.

Machine treatment

(1) For various kidney stones and ureteral stones smaller than 1.2 cm, the extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy should be the first choice for stone removal treatment; because there is no renal damage, the stone removal is thorough, safe and painless, and there is no side effect of impact lithotripsy; if the stone diameter is larger than 1.2 cm, the extracorporeal impact lithotripsy can be used first for stone crushing, and then the extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy can be used for thorough stone removal treatment, so as to achieve complementary advantages.

(2) This device is particularly suitable for acute ureteral calculi and the hydronephrosis, renal pelvic dilatation, hydroureter, ureteral dilatation, renal colic, etc. caused by it; it can quickly discharge ureteral calculi, immediately relieve pain, and quickly relieve the above symptoms; it is currently the preferred treatment measure for ureteral calculi.

(3) For patients with multiple renal stones and ipsilateral ureteral stones, the ureteral stones should be removed first, and then the multiple renal stones should be removed to prevent the formation of ureteral "stone streets".

(4) For larger stones in the kidney that remain in the renal pelvis and calyx after ESWL lithotripsy, the best indication for complete stone removal treatment with an extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy device is to use it directly. This is because the handheld high-frequency superconducting vibrator can directly touch the lower pole of the kidney and move the stones into the renal pelvis and ureter for excretion.

Dietary taboos

1. Increase calcium intake: Many people may wonder why we need to eat more calcium when stones are made of calcium salts? Because according to research, sufficient calcium will combine with oxalic acid and be excreted in the feces, thus reducing the absorption of calcium by the intestines, which will of course reduce the chance of stones.

2. Reduce the intake of oxalic acid: Reduce the consumption of foods that contain high levels of oxalic acid, such as spinach and tea.

3. Reduce sodium intake: Eat a light diet and minimize the consumption of canned and processed foods. Eat more foods containing potassium, such as bananas.

4. Reduce meat intake: Reducing the intake of animal protein can reduce the chance of stone formation.

Mitigation

Drink more water and exercise more: Drinking more water can speed up the metabolism of salt in urine, so drink at least 3000C.C of water every day. Exercising more can reduce bone calcium loss and thus reduce the formation of stones.
