First aid for foreign bodies in the airway

First aid for foreign bodies in the airway

In life, many people have experienced choking while eating or drinking or speaking in a hurry. The most terrifying thing is that some of the food you are eating gets into your trachea and blocks it. When this happens, the patient will have difficulty breathing. The situation is very serious. If not treated in time, the patient's life may be in danger.

Method 1

If the patient is an adult and can still speak, it means that the trachea is not completely blocked. At this time, you can pat his back and ask him to cough hard to see if he can cough out the foreign body.

Method 2

If the patient feels that the foreign body is stuck high up, ask him to open his mouth as wide as possible and observe whether he can see the foreign body directly in his mouth. If possible, find a way to help him take it out.

Method 3

When the patient can no longer speak, it means the airway is completely blocked. At this time, the rescuer should stand behind the patient, place a fist on the lower edge of the patient's xiphoid process (the lower edge of the fist is above the navel), cover the fist with the other hand, and then press upward and inward suddenly to increase the airway pressure in the body and flush out the foreign body.

Method 4

If the patient is a child, the rescuer can sit on a stool, place the child on one thigh, let him/her head down, and then pat his/her back to help him/her cough out the foreign body.

Method 5

Determine whether it is mild foreign body obstruction or severe foreign body obstruction. In mild cases, you just need to keep an eye on the person and they will be able to cough it out on their own. You can also go up and pat their back to help them cough out the foreign body. If the foreign body obstruction is severe, a "V"-shaped gesture will appear with both hands protecting the throat, and then the next step must be taken.

Method 6

After determining that it was a severe foreign body obstruction, he immediately stepped forward and hugged the person with choking from behind. Stand with your feet one in front of the other, adjust your center of gravity, and stand firmly. Perform the Heimlich abdominal thrust. The method is: make a fist with one hand and place it on the upper abdomen of the person who needs help (between the belly button and the sternum). The rescuer stands behind the person who is choking, puts his other hand around the person from behind, tightens his hands together, and then performs abdominal impact first aid with force. Direction of force: from bottom to top, from front to back.

Method 7

If the above first aid methods are ineffective, you should call 120 immediately and send the patient to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
