There is a mass in the liver

The liver plays an important role in the human body, so problems with the liver will seriously affect people's health. Liver lumps are very common in daily life. This is what is called liver space-occupying lesions in medicine. This disease has two types: benign and malignant. If patients find symptoms, they need to seek medical treatment in time and pay more attention to their diet.

1. Liver mass

Liver space-occupying lesions (what we usually call a tumor in the liver) can be benign or malignant. Benign lesions include hemangioma, liver cyst, hepatic adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia, etc. Malignant lesions such as primary liver cancer, secondary liver cancer, hepatoblastoma, hepatic leiomyosarcoma, and lymphoma. The incidence of liver cancer shows obvious differences in regional distribution. The incidence rate in the southeast coastal areas is higher than that in the inland areas. The areas with the highest incidence of liver cancer in my country are: Fusui in Guangxi, Qidong in Jiangsu, Shunde in Guangdong, and Tongan in Fujian. The peak age for liver cancer is between 40 and 60 years old. People in this age group should pay attention to regular check-ups, especially those with a history of hepatitis or cirrhosis.

Liver cancer patients are often accompanied by hepatitis and cirrhosis. When it comes to diet, we must consider both high nutrition and the patient's digestion and absorption functions. When the liver function is poor, the diet should be light and easy to digest. Do not eat too much high-fat food, because a high-fat diet will increase the burden on the liver, cause fatty liver, and delay the recovery of liver function.

(II) Precautions and treatment methods

In addition to paying more attention to diet, scientific treatment is the key to prolonging life and improving the quality of life for liver cancer patients. While scalpel is "forbidden" in treating liver cancer, Gamma Knife can play its unique advantages:

1. Blood vessels are exposed to a high dose of radiation, and the dose that kills the tumor is not enough to damage adjacent blood vessels. When a tumor infiltrates blood vessels or grows near blood vessels, the invisible gamma knife is safer than the visible scalpel.

2. Radiation is all-pervasive and is not limited by the location of the tumor. Difficult surgical exposure, complex anatomical sites and important functional areas are forbidden areas for scalpels, but they are not taboos for gamma knife.

3. Achieve systemic treatment through local means. Although Gamma Knife and surgery are both local treatment methods, surgery is powerless against tumors that have already metastasized, while Gamma Knife can perform "targeted elimination and decapitation operations" on primary lesions and metastatic lesions. When there are many lesions throughout the body, they can be treated simultaneously or in batches and stages.

4. It is non-traumatic, has little impact on the whole body, and can be tolerated by patients with poor physical conditions. Older patients and those with long-term chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes cannot tolerate surgery, but can tolerate gamma knife treatment.
