Clinical manifestations

Most of them have symptoms of stomach yin deficiency, including hunger but no appetite, muscle wasting, fatigue, etc. It is common in various types of malnutrition.

Causes

If one has an irregular diet, eats too much spicy food, or eats too much fatty and sweet food, dampness will turn into heat and damage the stomach yin; or if the lung fluid is insufficient, tuberculosis causes yin deficiency, the child steals the mother's qi and damages the spleen yin; or if one sweats, vomits, and has diarrhea, and the doctor misdiagnoses the patient, the spleen and stomach yin fluid will be damaged.

Differential Diagnosis

The difference between stomach yin deficiency and spleen yin deficiency: stomach yin deficiency is mostly caused by yang-heat diseases, with the main feature being abnormal absorption and digestion function. Clinically, it is characterized by no appetite despite hunger, no taste for food, thirst, retching and hiccups, or burning sensation in the stomach, or constipation, red tongue with little fluid, and a thin and rapid pulse.
