Are the consequences of filling tires with nitrogen serious?

The number of cars in my country has been growing continuously, which has led to people paying more and more attention to safe driving. Not only has the safety awareness of drivers been improved, but also the attention has been paid to car parts, because many accidents are often caused by small parts. In particular, attention should be paid to the maintenance of tires, otherwise it is easy to have a tire blowout. So are the consequences of filling tires with nitrogen serious?

First, are there serious consequences for filling tires with nitrogen? Before filling the tires with nitrogen, a vacuum needs to be drawn to remove the original air in the tires, but it is usually impossible to achieve a 100% vacuum, so there is still a very small amount of oxygen remaining (1 - 2%). The oxygen content in the tire needs to be reduced to about 2-3% to achieve a balance in the partial pressure inside and outside the tire. Therefore, in reality, the nitrogen purity required for tire filling can only reach 95-98%. Vacuuming utilizes the vacuuming function of the nitrogen machine, but the tire will often be deformed due to vacuuming. The inside of the tire is made of steel wire cords. The tire is deformed due to vacuuming, and the steel wire is also deformed. In a sense, it will also cause damage to the tire. Tires filled with nitrogen are relatively less likely to blow out, but if they are not properly maintained or used, there is still a risk of blowout due to damage to the sidewalls. Therefore, for cars filled with nitrogen, you must not neglect the maintenance and inspection of the tires.

Second, nitrogen as an inert gas is strongly recommended for use in certain special environments (such as some aircraft tires and engineering machinery tires), which can reduce the risk of explosion caused by the action of sparks and oxygen in the air inside the tire after the tire bursts. The inertness of nitrogen can delay the natural loss of gas inside the tire, so it is particularly suitable for certain occasions.

For example, nitrogen is particularly suitable for spare tires including temporary spare tires. For all tires under normal use, nitrogen filling is not necessary and will not necessarily provide the expected benefits. It is correct that the physical properties of nitrogen (the material's natural airtightness) reduce the loss of pressure. However, due to other reasons for air leakage (such as the combination of tire and rim, valve stem, etc.), even filling with nitrogen cannot guarantee better air pressure maintenance.

Are there serious consequences for filling tires with nitrogen? You can find the answer by understanding the above content. However, when filling with nitrogen, the original air should be released, and air and nitrogen should not be mixed together, otherwise it will not play its due role. Confirm the quality of the nitrogen generator: Do not choose nitrogen generators with separate nitrogen generators and air compressors. Choose nitrogen generators that integrate nitrogen generators and air compressors, especially nitrogen generators without air compressors, to ensure long-term nitrogen quality. Pay attention to the wear of the tire pattern and the aging of the rubber. If you find that the tread wear has reached the design limit, replace the tire in time.
