Finger joints are bent and cannot be straightened

Finger joints are bent and cannot be straightened

We have learned since childhood to create wealth with our hard-working hands. This shows that our hands are very important. Whether it is work or study, it is indispensable. From scientists who need hands to invent things, to our parents who need hands to wash clothes and cook for us. Although we have grown up and no longer need them to do these things. But we have to do it too. Our hands are truly a masterpiece of creation. Generally, we all have one pair of hands and ten fingers. The wonderful thing is that they can coordinate with each other while we work and study. Together we can accomplish what we need to do. What should I do if my fingers are bent and cannot be straightened? What caused him?

reason

1. Causes of disease

It is caused by chronic aseptic inflammation of the tendon sheath due to mechanical friction caused by the contraction and extension of the flexor tendon.

2. Pathogenesis

The onset of finger flexor tenosynovitis is at the beginning of the fibrous sheath of the finger flexor tendon corresponding to the metacarpal head (i.e., A1 pulley), where a relatively narrow sheath entrance is formed by the thicker annular fibrous tendon sheath and the metacarpal head. Although the tendon sheath of the thumb is connected to the bursa of the wrist, there are two sesamoid bones at the metacarpal head, and the passage is narrow. When grasping objects, the tendon slides and tightens, and the tendon bends at the pulley of the metacarpophalangeal joint, where the most friction occurs. The tendon sheath is squeezed back and forth by the objects and the metacarpal bones, making it easy to be damaged, gradually proliferating and causing stenosis.

examine

1. Generally, symptoms develop slowly and are common in people who do housework and manual work, especially in middle-aged and elderly women. Any finger can be affected, but the thumb, middle finger, and ring finger are most common. The main symptoms are localized pain on the palm side of the metacarpophalangeal joint and limited finger movement. As the stenosis of the tendon sheath worsens and the tendon swells in a gourd-like shape under pressure, the swollen part will find it difficult or impossible to slide through the narrow tendon sheath, so the fingers remain in the extended or flexed position, resulting in locking.

2. During the local physical sign examination, a nodule can be felt at the local tenderness of the patient's metacarpal bone. The nodule can be felt sliding when the fingers are flexed and extended, but it is often blocked by the narrow tendon sheath. When force continues to be applied, it may suddenly slide, similar to pulling a trigger, accompanied by a snap or bounce, and obvious pain. Therefore, this disease is also called trigger finger, snap finger, plucked finger, etc.

The diagnosis can be made based on medical history, clinical symptoms and signs, including the presence of trigger finger snapping.

Mitigation methods

1. Keep your hands warm.

2. Avoid hyperextension of finger joints as it can cause great damage to the hands.

3. You can move the joints of your fingers at any time, slowly flexing, extending, and stretching the interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal joints.

4. If your hands feel stiff, soak them in hot water (37,--40℃) for 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a day. This can effectively relieve muscle stiffness and prepare you for activity.

5. Avoid keeping your hands in one position for too long. When using your hands for a long time (such as typing, operating a computer), shake your hands slowly and gently in a relaxed state.

6. When your hand is injured, you can massage it gently.

7. The diet should be regular and reasonable, that is, mainly high-protein and high-vitamin foods. Choose plant or animal protein with high nutritional value, such as milk, eggs, fish, lean meat, various soy products, etc. Various fresh vegetables, fruits and melons are rich in vitamins and have high nutritional value. Paying attention to rest, combining work and rest, living an orderly life, and maintaining an optimistic, positive and positive attitude towards life are very helpful in preventing diseases
