What to do if a patient with nasopharyngeal carcinoma has brain metastasis and how to provide care

Nowadays, many patients are concerned about the care of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, especially some patients with brain metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. So, what should we do with brain metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients? How to provide care?

Patients with nasopharyngeal cancer recurrence are in great pain and have a poor quality of life. They often experience severe pain in the face and tongue. In severe cases, they may even feel like dying. They need to take strong painkillers for a long time. Once nasopharyngeal cancer recurs, it is easy for the disease to change. So, how long can a patient with nasopharyngeal cancer recur?

What should be done for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who have brain metastasis? If nasopharyngeal carcinoma is not discovered or treated in time, and brain metastasis occurs in the late stage, the number of tumors will be greater, and surgery cannot be performed with multiple craniotomies. Therefore, in this case, radiotherapy can replace the effect of the scalpel, so that brain metastases can also be effectively controlled and treated.

Radiotherapy technology has made great strides in development, from the previous whole-brain radiotherapy to the current stereotactic radiotherapy, the treatment method has changed from extensive to individual, from the whole brain to the tumor lesion, and this treatment method is more easily accepted by patients. Stereotactic radiotherapy equipment such as the Gamma Knife CyberKnife also serves more nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, reducing the side effects and damage caused by excessive radiotherapy doses.

Patients with nasopharyngeal cancer should eat more protein with high nutritional value, complete essential amino acids and good compatibility ratio, such as eggs, milk, fish and lean meat of animals, and eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, soybeans and their products, peanuts, mushrooms, tomatoes, citrus fruits, etc. Quit smoking and spicy food, do not eat smoked, fried, grilled, cured and pickled vegetables, consciously change bad lifestyles and bad habits, overcome various discomfort reactions, insist on eating, and ensure that radiotherapy is completed as planned.
