What are the early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and how to treat it

What are the early symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer? How to treat it?

1. The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in men is much higher than that in women. Genetic factors are relatively common in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. The occurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is obviously regional, and viral infection is also one of the factors causing the disease. A variety of chemical carcinogens can change the sensitivity of the mucosa to carcinogens.

2. Headaches may occur in the early stage, and they are often biased to one side and intermittent. Symptoms such as nasal congestion, ear closure, tinnitus, numbness of the chin, diplopia, and sagging of the upper nasal cavity may also occur. It often occurs in the pharyngeal recess and the anterior wall of the nasopharynx. The primary cancer breaks through the surface mucosa and bloody mucus appears. After getting up in the morning, the nasal secretions often contain blood or blood clots when inhaling, which is also one of the early symptoms.

3. So how to treat nasopharyngeal carcinoma? Since most of the pathological examinations are poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinomas, the recognized first-choice treatment method is radiotherapy. Conventional radiotherapy has many complications, and three-dimensional conformal or intensity-modulated radiotherapy is recommended. The total irradiation dose of the nasopharynx is 66-70Gy/6.5-7 weeks, the radical dose for those with positive cervical lymph nodes is 56-60Gy, and the preventive irradiation dose for those with negative cervical lymph nodes is 46-50Gy. During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine and immunotherapy can be combined to improve the efficacy. For some patients with advanced stage and recurrence after radiotherapy, as well as a few adenocarcinomas and well-differentiated squamous cell carcinomas that are less sensitive to radiation, comprehensive treatment methods such as chemotherapy and surgery can be used.
