Advantages of radiotherapy for patients with lymphoma

Radiotherapy can be used to treat lymphoma. Radiotherapy is relatively less painful for patients and does not put much financial pressure on them. The advantages of radiotherapy are:

1. Some lymphoma patients can be cured through radiotherapy, which can enable them to survive longer.

2. For some lymphoma patients, the effect of radiotherapy is even as good as that of surgery. This can also avoid the physical pain after surgery.

3. Some lymphoma patients cannot undergo surgical treatment or have difficulty in resection at the beginning, but after preoperative radiotherapy, the tumors of most patients shrink, the chance of tumor spread during surgery is reduced, the chance of complete resection is increased, and the chance of postoperative survival is also improved.

4. Some lymphoma patients can undergo postoperative radiotherapy to eliminate residual lesions and improve local control rate and survival rate.

5. Some lymphoma patients cannot undergo surgery due to poor physical condition or complications. Some patients are unwilling to undergo surgery. Simple radiotherapy is also very effective.

6. For patients with advanced stage of disease or those with lymph node pain, dyspnea, increased intracranial pressure, superior vena cava compression and cancerous bleeding caused by cancer, radiotherapy can often alleviate symptoms and prolong life.
