What to do if there are termites at home

What to do if there are termites at home

In daily life, we rarely see termites because termites like relatively humid places. Although termites are very small insects, they do have very strong destructive power, and termites can secrete a very corrosive liquid. If people come into contact with the liquid secreted by termites, they will cause allergies. When termites appear in the home, they must be dealt with in a timely manner.

Method 1

When termites are discovered in your home, the wood infested by termites should be moved out of the home immediately. Because termites have a strong reproductive capacity, if they are not removed, they will quickly eat away other wood. So, you must not be frugal and just keep the wood.

Method 2

Knock on other wooden furniture in the home and listen to the sound first. If it feels hollow, it may have been infested by termites. Then, gently kick the hollow wood a few times with your legs. If the infestation is serious, you will be able to see termites coming out.

Method 3

Sprinkle some termite powder on the place where termites appear to kill them.

Method 4

Spray painting the legs of your home's wood furniture white can help prevent termite infestation to a certain extent. However, please note that if the wood furniture is expensive, you should not paint it casually.

Method 5

If you find a termite nest, do not rush to remove the termites. Because if all the termites cannot be eliminated, they will be frightened and forced to move their nests.

Method 6

If the infestation of termites in your home is very serious, please ask a professional ant removal team to come to your home to help remove the termites.

What are the main manifestations of termite damage in homes?

Hazard 1

Termites usually move around through mud roads or mud blankets they have built. Their nests are mostly underground, inside walls or wood and are not easy to be found.

Hazard 2

All items in the home can be damaged and destroyed by termites.

Hazard Three

Household termites can destroy clothing, books, furniture, and daily necessities at the very least, or they can damage electrical wiring and cause fires, or damage the structure of a house and cause it to collapse. Pre-treating a house for termites is the key to preventing and controlling termites. This work should be done before the construction, reconstruction, expansion, or decoration of the house begins.

What are the preventive measures for termites ?

1. Termite prevention in newly built houses:

Method 1

On-site preparation before construction. The main purpose is to cut off the termite food left on the site, indirectly eliminate termites and reduce the possibility of termites survival.

Method 2

Termite prevention treatment of wall foundations, floors and soil. If an infestation is found in a newly constructed house, it must be dealt with thoroughly, including the use of physical methods and chemicals to kill termites in the foundation, leaving no hidden dangers.

Method 3

Pretreatment of wood components. The purpose of treating wooden components is to cut off the water supply routes of termites, avoid direct damage by termites, and extend the service life of wooden components. The pretreatment of wooden components can be done by brushing or soaking with termite-killing drugs, or by high-temperature treatment above 60°C.

Method 4

When renovating a home, the home decoration materials must be pre-processed to avoid bringing termites into the house. The pretreatment method of home decoration materials is basically the same as that of wood components.

Method 5

Keep the indoor and outdoor areas clean: remove clutter, place items in order, and do not leave any waste that may attract termites, especially wood waste, paper, worn-out clothing, etc.
