What are the symptoms of venous obstruction? There are five main symptoms

Venous obstruction may be a disease that is relatively unfamiliar to everyone. Many people may not have heard of this name. In fact, it is not a rare disease in our lives. On the contrary, the incidence rate is relatively high. It is necessary for us to understand its symptoms so that we can treat it as soon as possible. Specifically, venous obstruction has the following five main symptoms.

1. Swelling and pain in the limbs

Swelling in the legs or arms is the most common sign of a deep vein thrombosis. The thrombus affects venous return. When the thrombus spreads to a certain length and blocks the proximal and distal openings of the collateral circulation, it will cause swelling of the lower limbs.

Since my country has only really taken deep vein thrombosis seriously in recent years, the rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis of deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs is actually very high. If we feel deep pain when squeezing our calves, we may have deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremities.

2. Red lines on the skin

Bruising is also a sign of deep vein thrombosis. It runs along the veins and feels like an extra red streak on your arm.

3. Chest pain

You might think chest pain is a sign of a heart attack, but it could also be a sign of a deep vein thrombosis. DVT and heart disease have very similar symptoms. The difference is that the pain in the former is often stabbing, especially when you take a deep breath, the pain will be more obvious.

4. Shortness of breath or rapid heartbeat

A blood clot in the lungs can slow your oxygen flow. When you are in a low oxygen situation, your heart rate increases to try to make up for the lack of oxygen. You may also feel dizzy or even pass out.

5. Unexplained cough

Generally speaking, deep vein thrombosis is accompanied by symptoms of dry cough, but sometimes sputum or blood may be coughed up. If you keep coughing, I suggest you go to the hospital for a check-up.
