What are the precautions for tuberculosis

The lungs are an important organ in our human respiratory system. If you suffer from tuberculosis, you need to be isolated and treated because tuberculosis is highly contagious. During the treatment period of tuberculosis, there are many cares that need attention.

1. Children should be vaccinated with BCG on time. Vaccination can increase immunity and prevent illness caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

2. The main transmission route of tuberculosis is droplet infection. Patients with open pulmonary tuberculosis spray bacteria-carrying droplets when they cough, sneeze, talk or laugh loudly, and infect healthy people. If the patient spits anywhere, the sputum bacteria will be spread in the air with dust after the sputum dries and cause infection. Patients with tuberculosis bacteria found in their sputum should wear a mask when going out, not talk to other people's faces, and not spit anywhere. They should spit into a handkerchief or waste paper and disinfect it centrally or burn it with fire to sterilize it. Sputum can be disinfected by soaking in 5-12% Lysol solution for 2-12 hours. Patients should develop the habit of eating separately. Dietary infection may occur if patients eat together or eat food contaminated by tuberculosis bacteria.

3. Patients with positive sputum bacteria should be isolated. If isolated at home, the patient should live alone in the room, and food, tableware and utensils should be kept separate. Bedding, clothes, etc. can be exposed to the sun for 2 hours for disinfection, and boiling utensils for 1 minute can kill tuberculosis bacteria.

The room should be kept well ventilated and have plenty of sunlight, and the doors and windows should be opened three times a day, each time for 20 to 30 minutes. Generally, isolation can be cancelled when the sputum bacteria test is negative.

4. We should have a correct understanding of pulmonary tuberculosis. Currently, there are effective drugs to treat pulmonary tuberculosis, and the results are very satisfactory. Tuberculosis is no longer an incurable disease. You should have an optimistic spirit and a positive attitude, insist on taking the medicine on time and in the right dosage, and complete the prescribed course of treatment, otherwise it is easy to relapse.

5. You can choose to exercise Qigong, health exercises, Tai Chi and other items to restore the body's physiological functions to normal.

Gradually restore health and enhance disease resistance. Usually pay attention to keep warm, and moderate sexual intercourse.

6. The diet should be mainly high in protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins, and it is advisable to eat fresh vegetables, fruits, and beans. You should quit smoking and drinking.

Studies in recent years have shown that smoking can reduce the blood concentration of anti-tuberculosis drugs, which is not conducive to the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. It can also increase the secretion of bronchial sputum, aggravate coughing, spread tuberculosis lesions, and aggravate symptoms such as hot flashes, hemoptysis, and night sweats. Drinking alcohol can increase the toxic effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs on the liver, leading to drug-induced hepatitis. It can also cause the body's blood vessels to dilate, making it easy to produce symptoms of hemoptysis.
