Sacroiliac arthritis

Sacroiliac arthritis

Arthritis refers to inflammatory diseases that occur in human joints and surrounding tissues, which can be divided into dozens of types. This disease is not caused by just one disease, but by multiple diseases. There are also many patients suffering from this disease in our country, and this disease accounts for a very large proportion of all diseases. Then many people will ask, what are the symptoms of this disease and what are the treatment methods? Let's find out next.

Sacroiliitis is divided into two categories: primary and secondary:

1. Primary sacroiliitis:

In primary sacroiliitis, the activity of articular chondrocytes is low, the supporting strength of soft tissues such as hip muscles is weakened, and the cartilage undergoes degeneration. It is often affected by factors such as age, physique, and genetics. The older you are, the more damage you accumulate. The mucopolysaccharide content in the articular cartilage matrix of the elderly decreases, the fibrous component increases, and the toughness of the cartilage decreases, making it more susceptible to damage and degeneration. The incidence rate is higher in obese people.

(ii) Secondary sacroiliitis:

There are many underlying diseases for secondary sacroiliitis, the most common ones are the following.

Acetabular dysplasia can cause biomechanical imbalance, reduce the weight-bearing area, increase the pressure on the articular cartilage in the weight-bearing area, lead to wear of the articular cartilage and cause osteoarthritis.

symptom:

1. Pain: Pain is the main symptom of the disease and the main cause of functional impairment. It is characterized by insidious onset and continuous dull pain, which often occurs after activities and can be relieved by rest. As the disease progresses, joint movement may be limited by pain, and pain may occur even when the patient is at rest. During sleep, the muscles around the joints are damaged and the protective function of the joints is reduced. The patients cannot limit activities that cause pain as they do when awake, and they may wake up in pain.

2. Morning stiffness and stickiness: Morning stiffness indicates the presence of synovitis. But unlike rheumatoid arthritis, the duration is relatively short, generally not exceeding 30 minutes. The sticking sensation refers to the feeling of stiffness when the joint moves after being still for a period of time, as if it is stuck, which can be relieved by a slight movement.

3. Other symptoms: As the disease progresses, joint contracture, instability, rest pain, and increased pain when bearing weight may occur. Dysfunction may occur due to mechanical locking caused by poor joint surface fit, muscle spasm and contraction, joint capsule contraction, and bone spurs.

Treatment:

1. Pay attention to the balance between work and rest, overcome depression, and maintain an optimistic and positive attitude towards life. Live a regular life, have a regular routine, get enough sleep, and strengthen physical exercise.

2. Commonly used surgical treatments include arthroscopic surgery, osteotomy and artificial joint replacement. You can eat more lean meat, fish, eggs, milk, legumes, fresh vegetables and fruits, etc., and pay attention to gradually resuming exercise.

3. In this case, it is recommended to take ibuprofen or voltaren for treatment. It is also recommended to see a Chinese medicine doctor. Chinese medicine treatment should be conducted dialectically by the doctor. Everyone has different physical conditions, so the medication may be increased or decreased. In addition to seeking treatment from the doctor, you should pay more attention to protecting yourself, keep warm, apply hot compresses every day, and avoid overwork.

4. Infrared, ultrashort wave or short wave thermal therapy can also increase local blood circulation, promote the disappearance of inflammation and swelling, relieve pain, and enhance the local effect of drugs.
